So I beefed up the 20gb hdd to a 320gb in my PS3, with the idea that I would copy all my music/tv/movies over to it and not need my computer on. Well the music works fine, but the hundreds of videos I have are in one giant folder :( Is there anyway to sort the video files into individual folders like it is when you stream from the PC?

Triangle on any of the files -> there's a sort by option

Triangle on the file -> Click on Album name

To speed things up, put the files you want to group together under a short album name (1 letter or number) and then rename the folder when you're done.

i don't like how i have to navigate to my PC -> videos -> folders -> e: -> to get to my movies.

i'd rather it just go to my PC and straight to my shared drive on my PC.

That's for music. The music sorting is fine, does it by album/artist/etc. I want to be able to have video folders, ie. Scrubs Folder, Futurama Folder, etc. As it is right now, all 300+ episodes of each show are just sitting in one giant "Video" folder.

Yes. It's also for videos. And for photos. And for games.

Wow, what a shitty design. They need to contract out MS to fix this garbage. If i copy a scrubs folder to my ps3, it should show up exactly the same, not mixed in one folder.

I like to use Tversity and just create my file structure on the computer I'm sharing the data from. I too bought a 320GB hard drive, but now it seems like a huge waste because the PS3 simply doesn't have the ability to rationally organize anything that isn't purchased from some Online store.

I wish I could copy a file folder over from the PC and have it keep the same file folder structure on the PS3. As it stands now, it just copies the files and lists them by date/album/etc. once they're copied over.

Edit: I also wish there was a mass select and delete function on the PS3 as well. Very annoying to have to delete each video/music file/etc. one at a time. Oh yeah, how about some built in .mkv support while you're at it Sony.

I hate this too, I have tried a solution but it looks like there is no way to avoid the 8 clicks you need to go through to watch a video.

And I don't understand why you have to select your Video sharing when you're under the Video tab already. It's dumb as hell.

IIRC, there is a delete multiple option.
