PS3 Imports

So I think its still true that any japanese games are playable in the US PS3. Anyone picked up any japanese imports and recommend them? Besides GT5 prologue that is. I see a couple of strategy RPGs when I look at play-asia.com, Agarest Senki and Mist of Chaos. I was hoping for tons of RPGs but it seems like there really arent that many...

it probably would be tough to play japanes RPG's but if you can speak/read japanese then it'll probably be easy 😛

only imports I ever really had was Xmen vs. Streetfighter on saturn.

there is no region locking on the ps3? so you can get games from asia and europe???

PS3 games are not region-coded, but the PS3 does enforce region coding of PS1 & PS2 games and DVDs (probably for legal reasons).

Blu-ray is region-coded but Japan and the US are in the same region.

LOLZ, PS3 has no gamez!

I am thinking of picking up Mist of Chaos in Korean since I can read it. There aren't that many choices yet though.

Actually YES! I just got in that Gran Tourismo 5 Prologue and it's amazing. I could care less if it's in japanese most of the GT games are setup the same way anyways. Great car game though would recommend since you have to wait till mid march or later for US release.

I've got Disgaea 3 on preorder--don't know how well I'll be able to understand it though.

If you can read Japanese, grab Mainichi Issho (for free) off the JP store. It's a really cute game.

i can read but not kanji, and not fluently. looks like i should make a jpn account. do they have a lot of demos as well? if the game is heavy on the multiple choice questions then i probably wouldnt be able to navigate through the storyline very efficiently. i love disgaea btw.

They do have demos that the US store never gets--unfortunately a lot of them are limited. They did this with HSG5, Folklore, GT5P, and PJM. Really though, even if you don't have the slightest bit of Japanese knowledge, it's still beneficial to set up a JP account. They also get themes and video clips before us a lot of the time.

Mainichi Issho is a good game for practicing your Japanese. The actual core of it is a text-based daily talk show, but there are also Brain Training (w/ online ranking and vs mode) and Shiritori (also has online vs) minigames. Multiple cosplay games too if you don't mind paying for DLC (~300-400 yen a month).
