Basically just ordered from tiger direct there refurbished 60gb with BC. can i take my already formated HDD out of my current 80gb and have it work. or is there some formatting process that looks for the BC software/hardware?

You should be g2g. The drive is just a standard 2.5" notebook drive, the BC is a function of the hardware that is present on the BC model and not on the newer model.

No price checks allowed I believe per forum rules... look at it yourself via ebay or FS threads here. Also, don't sell it as a 80gig PS3 when you're putting the 60gig drive in there. That's fucked up on so many levels.

BC is hardware driven on the 60gb. There is no PS2 BC software on the hard drive.
You'll probably have to reformat the drive, or at the vary least redownload any DLC you purchased due to DRM. Try it and see. Keep in mind you can back up your data to an external drive.

Yea, be very careful selling it. You will either get someone expecting an 80gb and upset that its only 60 gb, or you say its 60 gb and get someone expecting it to have BC.

When did i ever say i was ripping anyone off... shit.. you all suck. i already have an 80gb ps3... i have upgraded to a 320gb drive. the 80gb is still intact.. im gonna keep the 60gb as a backup drive and resell the 80gb as it should be. i dont know where you saw me saying i was gonna rip anyone off..

also i was looking for a ballpark figure. didnt think that was such a big deal considering i wasnt selling to any of you,

i just read the rules for this forum. correct me if im wrong, but i didnt see anything about asking about a resell value.

We never said you were ripping anyone off, just warning you to be careful so your potential buyers don't get confused.

Because you said you were going to take the HD out of the 80 and put it in the 60. Nowhere did you ever say it was NOT the original 80GB drive until AFTER someone said to watch reselling so you did not confuse people. Without that information, the logical conclusion was you were going to resell it either A) with the 60GB drive or B) without a drive.

i asked, because i have a 320 in there now... i would have just put the 80gb back in. not my fault someone assumed shady business.

and to point out. i never once said i was gonna put a 60gb anywhere. read my posts.

It sounded like you planned on swapping the drives in the PS3s to me, not just having a backup. Then you said "whats the resell value on used 80gb w/o BC" which to me sounded like you planned on selling the non-BC PS3 (which would now have 60gig) as an 80gig. You never mentioned another PS3 and that's why I thought the way I did. Be more clear next time.

ummm no... i never mentioned anything about scamming anyone.. i never mentioned anything about doing anything with the 60gb drive.. i think i was pretty clear.. my 320gb had nothing to do with the questions i had asked.

i simply said whats the resell value of an 80gb.. not how much is the 80gb model with a 60gb drive.

I don't think anyone was accusing you of intentionally scamming anyone, just advising you to be thorough and accurate in your description when you resell your non-BC ps3. Which you have been, I might add.

Now I know why people aren't more helpful around here. You get accused of accusing people of things

Yeah, the OP got a little defensive over words that weren't said.

Just explain yourself logically next time if you think someone is misunderstanding you.
