I was just thinking - if the PS3 ends up running Linux like Kutaragi keeps saying it will, then does that mean it will be vulnerable to various software mods? I'm not incredibly knowledgeable with Linux but it seems that the standard desktop and server versions are not really designed for digital code signatures at every level like the 360's OS is.
Do you think Sony has the software expertise to re-write Linux so that it refuses to run any and all unsigned code? It just seems like starting with such a large codebase is only inviting console reverse engineers to find some loophole, especially since they will presumably have complete access to the file system.
Anyway, just speculation really.
