PS3 Gaming on a Standard TV?

Well, I've been kinda worried, since my dad's mind is set on a PS3 this November, and we only have a bunch of old-school TVs with no HDTV technology or LCD displays (most are rounded screens), will picture quality of the PS3 be deteriorated on these displays? Is it really worth getting a PS3 if your TVs are crappy? I'm thinking along the line of buying a 15" LCD TV for around $350 along with the PS3 so I won't be missing out, but, really, what should I do?

Well crt hdtv's have really come down in price, and by november should be even cheaper. So maybe consider spending ~500 for a no frills hdtv? PS3 should be fine on your old tv's though, as long as they're decent tv's.
