I want to say there was a game or two that allowed it. But, no, the PS3 on its own has no support for that.

That sounds odd. So in co-op games only one person/psn id gets the save game/trophy credit?

I think it's a PSN thing, because Insomniac is trying to get such a feature to allow multiple PSN IDs logged on to Resistance 2.

I think they are working on it. It definitely wasn't a feature originally imagined so it might be proving a little tough to get the kinks worked out with the current implementation, because achievements and collectible things and game rank wasn't really a big thing at PS3s release.
I'm thinking it'll be soon since a few PS3 game developers now are really trying to get it to happen.

well, games allow you to bring other system profiles into play, just not more than one PSN ID. So, no trophy stuff, but some stuff, depending on how the game does it, can be saved to multiple profiles in play, but I don't even think that is a common thing.
But yeah, I think in co-op games all progress is saved only to the person who loaded up the save content, i.e. first player's profile.
