Its actually about $308, as of today. Not $240. Thats if its correct that the original price was 98,000 yen. Take 70% off of that, and its about $308. Either way, its a big step down in development prices.

i doubt it. thats just a single component out of many, sure its the pricey one but still, a shrink of that alone wouldn't take 70% off. sony doesn't pay retail costs for cpus after all.

Shouldn't ps2 chip + gpu cost less than $10 by now? It wouldn't cost much to have it put back into ps3.

I don't think there will be 45nm chips this year, it's to early.
Propably 2010.



About the 70% reduction, well they had to say something.
