PS3 Cooling

So I know it's not anything PC related but hopefully you guys can help me out here. I'm having trouble cooling off a CECHA01 60GB Backwards Compatible PS3. No matter what I do, fans ramp up quite fast. I've already replaced the heatsink thinking that the old heatsink wasn't smooth. The replacement heatsink was confirmed smooth, thermal paste is touching the IHS and heatsink pretty well.

I went as far as to take the IHS off and replace the paste under that. Still nothing.

Currently the case is off, room is about 75F. I can't tell you temps on the PS3 but my computer is at 27C idle in the same room with the side panel off and using a massive 120mm fan/heatsink (sorry I don't remember which one).

Any help appreciated!

try blowing a fan onto the system....

maybe a sensor inside the PS3 is still reporting a hot value which is making your system ramp up.

no because u dont know if its a sensor reading hot air pockets... or its the actual sink not touching...

i have one of those older PS3's as well. from what i understand, those things are just by nature going run hot, so yea its kind of annoying having to listen to the fans ramp up.

Honestly, i would say just maybe locate your ps3 somewhere where the noise wont bother you as much

I'll just deal with it I guess, I really can't move it anywhere else. I'm getting a PS3 for the basement so I might move this down there and have a slim up where the A01 is.
