PS3 connection with 2001FP

Well I bought a psx3 which fot the time being I'm planning on using it with my oldie 2001FP..

I tried to connect it through an HDMI->DVI-D cable, but though the signal seemed to be produced, I couldn't see any picture.. Is this because my monitor is not HDCP?

The only way I made it work was through AV cable to composite in my monitor..

Now I need to now

1.Is there any way I can connect it through DVI in my screen?
2.What max resolution does the composite limits me in my monitor? My monitor's max is 1600x1200..But am I limited to 576p?

Thanks
