I noticed this weekend that most stores are offering some sort of deal with the 60GB PS3. I think Walmart's is definitely the best:

Playstation 3 60GB + Free Sony Blu Ray DVD Remote + (Heavenly Sword OR NBA 08 OR Lair OR Warhawk OR Resistance OR MotorStorm OR Formula One Championship Edition)

Pretty nice selection of games to choose from.

All versions except 40GB are backwards compatible (you CAN play PS1 games on 40GB though). However, 60GB has PS2 hardware built-in to ensure higher compatibility; 98%~ on 60GB versus 87%~ on 80GB (software emulation). Both versions will upscale PS2 games and all versions will upscale DVDs.
