PS3 $399 after $100 MIR @ Hastings

Would be great if true! But there have been many, many rumors about the elusive $399 PS3. Did you see it in the store personally?

Called the Grand Island, Nebraska Hastings this morning. Their 60gb's are $499, no rebate though the salesman said there had been a rebate recently. The Hastings website doesn't sell the consoles but still lists prices but there is a discrepancy in their pricing. The website has the price set at $499 but the following weekly ad scan lists it at $449 after a MIR.

Together with the OP's post, it seems like this is a huge YMMV deal. Hope someone else has better luck than I did. 🙁

Just checked out the Hastings website and the web ad they have up shows the PS3 60 Gig for $500 with a $50 mail in rebate for a total of $450. Decided to call up the nearest Hastings from me (25ish miles away) and they told me they had theirs for $500 with a $100 MIB so $400 total after the rebate comes in.

Too bad the promotional voucher for 5 free BluRay movies is over for them cause then it woulda been a super deal (though admittedly most of the free ones were crap). But still, I've been wanting a PS3 for a bit and now include this with the ToysRUs deal for buy-2-games-get-1-free I can't resist any longer. Plus its nice the 60g have full backwards compatibility with PS2 games which the upcoming 40 gig version for $400 will not have anymore. In case people don't know, the PS3 20g and 60g are fully backward compatible with PS2 games through hardware while the 80g versions is only mostly backward compatible through software and the soon to release 40g has ZERO backward compatibility. If you are ever in the market for a PS3 this may be something important for some of yall.

The deal has been extended through 1/31/2008.

those "rumors" are pretty much true, but that will be the standard price for the new 40gb PS3 released at the end of this month, I believe....which is a bit crippled being that it can't play PS2 discs.

this deal is apparently for the $499 60gb PS3; which is an awesome deal

I just called my local Hastings. The lady confirmed that there was a $100 MIR on the 60GB PS3 and that the rebate was good till November 17th.

One thought -- if the $100 MIR requires that the original UPC code be sent to Hastings -- it may make the deal a bit less awesome since you won't be able to send in for the 5 free blu-rays (which requires the UPC to be sent in). Add in 9.25% TN -- which eats up almost half the rebate -- the deal gets even less awesome.

But there it is -- I confirmed at least at my Hastings that they are doing $499 + tax - $100 MIR on the 60GB PS3.

Well I think I know what hastings is doing. They are giving us the PS3 for $399 after MIR and stopping us from getting Blu Ray movies. 5 Blu Ray Movies is about 200 bucks. Now if you don't want the movies, yes ... this deal is good. If you want the movies, don't go to hasting 🙂
