well personally I wouldn't mate.

The xbox has good games from what I've seen. Halo looks SWEET. And the other games don't look 'all' that to me. But there are 'probably' some 'great' games that I've not seen or read about. I'm not up to much news on the xbox scene.

I love GT3, TTT for my ps2. MGS2 is good. FFX I will buy when its out in the UK. Also I'm going to get VF4 and T4 when they are out. CvS2 is GREAT. I love my fighting games. The xbox controller doesn't look so great for fighting games. I'm so use to the ps2 pads now. I like the feel and where the buttons are placed for me.

Project Gotham Racing is great for Xbox. I'm not even a racing fan and I'm addicted to it.

<< halo and jet set future are both really good games. >>

yeah. I'd LOVE to get Jet Set future for my ps2!!! That looks like a really good game.

AvidOC NO DOUBT the xbox graphics look VERY GOOD. The only thing about the ps2 stuff is the lack of any decent AA! That does annoy me. But I can over look that.

For me I'll get which ever console has games that I like to play. Maybe get an xbox in a few years when it drops in price:D

AA is Anti Aliasing. You get quite a bit of 'jaggies' in the background and such with ps2 games. Even in MGS2.

TTT is Tekken Tag Tournament. I am a HARDCORE player to say the least. No 10 strings for me. I know frame data in the game from reading stuff and know juggles that eat a lot of energy that are 'unstopable' once started etc etc. I just use to play it alot. So I'll get any system that Tekken is currently on I suppose.

where are you in the UK? I'm in Surrey.......

Xbox has a lot of upside to it. Great sound and graphics. It has more of a "future" to it than does a PS2 as the PS2 is nearer to the end of its product life.

PS2, OTOH, has a better game lineup. That is what you buy a system for.

Either way you'll be happy. Just a little sooner with the PS2, and you may not be as happy with the PS2 in the long run.

If you can afford it, get both! :)

PS2 has the best games right now. But like others have said, its future is more dim than X-Box's.

X-Box has some good titles out right now as well, and a pretty bright future. With games like Unreal Championship, Crazi Taxi 3, House of the Dead 3, Sega GT 2002, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and more to be announced at E3 as some of its exclusives, I think the next year will be a very good year for X-Box. Not to mention it seems to be getting alot if the big titles that are coming to other systems (or are already on them). (For example: GTA3, Some sortof Metal Gear Solid game, Turok Evolution, EA Sports titles).

As long as good games keep coming out for X-Box, it will hold the edge to PS2 because of its advantages in hardware. Graphics capabilities aside, X-Box has HDTV support, Dolby Digital 5.1 support in hardware (PS2 can do DTS Surround in software), plus more hardware for your dollar (Ethernet/hard drive).

So it really depends on what you want to do. If you intend to keep the console for the next 5 years and not buy another console, get X-Box now. If you think maybe you want to play some games for the next year and pickup another console in a year or so, keep the PS2 and get the X-Box at the next price drop.
