Doh...

Anyone willing to try to write a program so the consoles can crack?

All the game consoles up to and including the Game Cube would not make good crackers. They are all designed with special purpose chips to make pretty graphics and not much else. Also, the PS2 does not have an internet connection (yet)

The X-box is the exception. It will have a PIII processor in it and it may be possible to create a client for it.

Pft, the X-Box will be a piece of cake to create a client for. It'll be running a Windows clone for peat's sake.;)

PS Equation of console cracking:
x=Single X-Box
k=kk/sec=2.8*700=1960
k=$300x
x=k/$300
x=6.53kkey/sec/$
x=Cheap crack rack!:D

Dreamcast . 56k modem built in , windows ce enhanced :) only costs a 150 bucks , it would work :) no reason why anyone wouldn't be able to buy one :)

It uses a custom CPU, which means a whole new core would be needed; and it may not be that fast at RC5.:(

well it uses a sh-4 , which is used in alot of things , its also one chip instead of the 3 found in the psx2 . Its just a thought since the dreamcast would be able to connect to the web alot quicker

The thing is that even if the SH4 is common; it's not a chip supported by any current client. It would still take a brand new core to make it crack. As for the PS2, it's DOA too, since it's a new chip. The X-Box is the only feesable thing right now.

We've thrown around the idea; too much power drain.:(

okay i'm still stuck on the dreamcast .... it uses the sh-4 , there is a sh-1 -sh-5 with more coming , they are used in everything from consoles to dish washers to palm pilots. If you build the core for an sh it should work on all of them , even the saturn with two sh-2s at 30 mhz each :) crunching power :) also wouldn't these chips along with the psx2 chips lend it self to rc5 they are risc chips. If i knew how to make a core i would play around with it , but as it is i'm way to lazy to learn .... rpg is draining my creative side.... :-(
