So what do you guys think? I am pretty pleased with the online play. I installed it and hooked it up to my router with no problems at all. I got 3 games of Madden in. All three were very smooth and it was alot of fun. I was also impressed with the stats it tracks on you. Pretty cool that they have rankings too.

Glad to hear you liked it. Best Buy here wouldn't sell the adapter yesterday, so I just got mine a few minutes ago. Looking forward to trying Madden tonight. I also still haven't tried Tony Hawk online, so I will be grinding it out tonight.

No monthly charge, yes regular ISP, and I'm not sure about question 3.

I can't find the damn thing around here so I'm gonna have to go out of my way to Best Buy and see if they have one

In one of my games last night, on the screen where you move your controllers to the team you are controlling, there were 3 controllers listed. I only have 1 plugged into my PS2 so I'm assuming the other guys had 2. I can't say for sure though if you can team up against someone.

But there are no charges and you can use your ISP. I use Comcast cable.

On the dreamcast NFL2K, you could play multiple players. Everything I've read has stated it's possible. However, since I haven't actually tried it, that's all I can say.

Gonna try it later tonight with Madden 2003. :D

Couldn't try it yesterday as I didn't have a long enough lan cable.

Cool thing is you get Twisted Metal Black Online free for sending that card.

madden online is dope, just be careful of the cheesy players. there are a lot more of them since the official sony network adapter got released. i really hate players who choose goal line offense every single play. almost as bad as those who qb sneak every single time.

What about SOCOM Navy Seals? Anyone got any impressions of that so far? I'm really interested in how the gameplay is with this...

BUMP!

Last year I was gonna wait to see how all the newest consoles' games were doing in a year before deciding on which to buy. Now they all have online gaming, so I'm gonna wait another year and see how the different services end up. Maybe I'll finally give up consoles completely.

I'd like to have a network adapter, but I can't find one anywhere!! It really gets under my skin that Sony refuses to make enough of anything for someone to get it when they want to on launch. I guess I will hopefully get lucky in the next couple of weeks, or mabye I'll go buy Mario Sunshine instead. That'll teach 'em!

Damn you, now I'm gonna have to get a Sony network adapter and Madden 2k3. I was hoping to isolate myself with only NCAA football 2003 (my first college football game....and the only one that's been worth my dollars). I'm glad PS2 online is actually working decently.

Good luck finding them. Sony produced 250,000 for launch and from what I've seen, 75% if not more are sold.

I have mine still unopened about 5 feet from me.

I can only imagine how fun Twisted Metal Black online is going to be :)

Unless Sony says otherwise your wireless card probably won't work.

I couldn't get on yesterday w/the adaptor and roadrunner cable. WAS NE1 else unable to get on or can offer advice, pls? The PS2 recongizes the adaptor, but the test fails. I get activity on the link light on the modem only while running the test. I tried the logon util in madden also. No ips were enter or dns, it was all on auto, I checked the password and power cycled the modem.

Do you have a firewall or router that is feeding the PS2? I would imagine that the PS2 uses some different ports or protocalls that might be blocked. I know Madden gave a notice when I started about some of the ports it uses. Might want to look into that.

I played a game of Madden and got whipped. There was slight lag, but it wasn't real noticable most of the times. Kicking was a little more difficult, because if there happened to be even a slight lag problem at that point, your kicking would be off a bit.

That was all I played online last night. I'll have NFL2K3 tonight to try out. Might try and rent SOCOM next week. I suck at console FPS'ers.

Ugh, that's going to suck if Road Runner is blocking ports that may be needed. Damn TW!

yeah that would suck majorly. I wonder if NE1 w/roadrunner was able to get on.

I highly doubt that RoadRunner (or any ISP) would block/filter the ports necessary to use the PS2 adapter online. I am sure it is probably just not configured properly.

Road Runner may not "intentionally" be blocking whatever ports the PS2 adaptor uses, but they already do block many to stop people from using their computers to host ftp/www and other services...
