PS2 on a PC monitor?

Is it possible to hook up a ps2 on to the pc monitor via some vga adapter like the dreamcast has? If not is there another way? Thanks in advance.

man, that would be cool. cuz I really want a PS2, but my PC monitor is much bigger than my crappy 13" TV, and I dont want to have to buy a TV just so I can get a PS2

Sony's making an upscan converter that will convert PS2 and PSX (and any composite source) to VGA. I think sometime Q1 2001.

Couldn't you just use a tv-tuner card and hook up your psx, ps2, or any other tv signal source to it?

Hmm, I just thought about it, guess that'd require the computer to be on and you'd have to view it thru the tv tuner card's software, not just on the monitor itself. Well, I guess it's still a possible temporary soultion

Pretender, good idea. Often TV software can do some nice line doubling so if it comes in clean, you may get good results.

You can just get a TV-tuner card with video-in (some TV-tuner cards doesnt have video-in, so be careful) and hook up ANY video source to your PC. ex. VCR, PS, PS2, Dreamcast, etc...

yeah but tv tuner quality looks like crap..... I did that with my dreamcast... I have a decent tv tuner too... hauppauge wintv theatre. The vga box makes the dc look soooo much better though.

They have this converter thing so you can hook up your monitor to your game console. I saw it at FRY's and they had a DC hooked up to it. It looked really nice. I forgot the price though.

I didn't think it was possible to do it directly with the PS2, because the games are interlaced? They would have to do something to convert it I guess...

You mean like the Dreamcast's VGA Box? Not yet, but rumor is that it is likely on the way... no idea if thats true or when.

Deekos right....ps2 games are done in a fake high resolution mode....fake meaning not true high res like the dreamcast can do...thats why a lot of ps2 games have jaggies...i dont think it would be possible without doing something to convert the signal.

<< thats why a lot of ps2 games have jaggies >>

Actually the fact that PS2 can not directly support VGA mode has nothing to do with the aliasing I think. Rather anti-aliasing on the PS2 takes a big performance hit, so companies are trying to find software work arounds.

actually that is why ps2 games have jaggies.....trust me man i know...i got programmer friends who work for EA canada.

also read this if u dont beleive me.
