PS2 & Memory Cards...What's the deal?!?

I just bought a PS2 and of course, no memory card included. Almost every retailer in the free world is out of memory cards. I checked E-Bay, but most of those are going at or above MSRP. I've heard that the non-Sony cards are no good( i.e. lose saved games). Has anybody else had this problem? I guess it's just the law of supply and demand.....:(

The Walmart store I work at sells out of cards the day we get them in, they are definately a hot item!

good luck. i have had a mad catz before for ps1 and N64 (not ps2 though) and both had almost a full season of either hockey or baseball on them and failed. i threw them at the brick wall of my townhome (about three years ago) i was so pissed. :D

I've been using a mad cat one for 1.5 years on my PS2 now. I think that the SONY ones are made by them anyway or something.

Yah, we just bought a ps2 a couple of weeks ago. We went everywhere lucking for a memory card(walmart, sears, target, mall, toys-r-us, and more) But when we went to Best Buy, they had some Sony Memory cards. So you might want to try there. Good Luck

My roomie and I went looking one afernoon for memory cards at about 10 different stores and didn't find a single one. One day we were walking through Best Buy and saw a whole shelf full of them and decided we had to buy - we didn't have a PS2 at the time, but we knew that one of us would get one eventually and the cards were just about impossible to find. Check Best Buy periodically and they might have some.

Sony sold way too many memory cards during christmas even with Xbox and GC in store, so now there's no supply. If Xbox marketing were more competent and were able to competed with PS2 more it wouldn't have happened. So you can blame it on Microsoft :)

Thanks for the info....I'll try Best Buy and see. I know at the web-site they are sold-out. Does anyone have a new or used one they would like to sell? Thanks again...:D
