PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox?

Ok, my kids are getting one of the above (ages 10-4) for xmas, but I'm not sure which to buy. I'm leaning towards the gamecube simply because it has more of the types of games they like to play. Any reason to consider the PS2 or Xbox?
(They already have a DVD player, so that's not a consideration). Thanks in advance for any opinions on the above systems.

P.S. This will be a kids only system, I only play a few games, and I'd rather they be on my computer ;)

LOL, I've read the reviews. Actually wanted opinions from people using the above. :)

I have owned all three. I currently own a PS2 and Xbox.

Honestly, for children that age I would go with a Gamecube OR PS2 (probably gamecube though), to me the Xbox is definetly orentaited around a more mature audience. However, the Xbox is by far my favorite console, then again I am 21. ;)

If a game is available on all three systems I'll play it for the xbox. That's a good reason to go with the xbox in my book.

I have both a XBOX and PS2 and used to own a Gamecube. Gamecube is the best thing for kids. XBox and PS2 just don't have the quality games that Gamecube has for younger audiences. Mario Party, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Monkey Ball, plus other games that are suitable for kids and are fun to play. About the only kids game I can think of for PS2 or XBOX is Nickelodeon Party Blast.

And Toxic - you might want to edit your title to indicate that it is for kids so you get the replies you are looking to see.

PS2 or Gamecube

Gamecube like everyone else said is more geared towards the younger crowd. You can't go wrong there.

GC...hands down...for that age group.

And as others have already said, Xbox is DEFINITELY geared toward a more mature audience.

Do your kids currently have a system, and if so what and what games do they play? This will help get a better idea. I would think that the Gamecube is best oriented towards them. It is also $50 cheaper :).

And why is the text super-huge is my IE? I have closed it and opened a new one but everything looks like it is on size 20 font for some reason? May have to reboot...

I guess a GC would be the best for that age group because they try to keep mature games to a minimum where as Sony and MS don't care. On that thought, it surprised me that Nintendo let BMX XXX on their system. Even the PS2's censored one is for a very mature audience.
