I was at my local Ames store yesterday I noticed they now carry ps2.
I just purchased the Boston North Entertainment book and inside is a coupon for 30% off 1 non sale item at Ames
Enjoy!

The ames in my area runs that coupon in their ads on a fairly regular basis. Not every week, but pretty often. Makes for some sweet deals on other things such as dvd players, vcrs, etc.

After couple search I could find that there was a 30% off coupon for student, but then it expires on 10/31. If they are the same kind of promotion I believe copy will work. Maybe you can hook us up with a scan so we can all try to get one at our Ames. BTW I just went there and they do carry PS2, games and accessories. Too bad their circular has no 30% off coupon.

BTW you guys can find the website for the entertainment at http://www.entertainment.com. I live in Albany, NY and it costs $45 to get the book man... And I dun think it includes a coupon for Ames. Even it does that will bring the price all the way back to 270 after tax... :(
I check boston north and south, they are $25 each, and both has Ames coupon. Anyone know if the coupon can be used nationwide? The BEST would be that I find a copy of the coupon... :)

<< I live in Albany, NY and it costs $45 to get the book man... And I dun think it includes a coupon for Ames. >>

FYI - The Mid-Hudson book has the same # of Ames coupons as the Boston books. I will have to go home tonight and check.. but I think that should work quite nicely (since I already have that book). :)

Can you please scan the coupon??? That way everyone can try to get one for this cheap price. Appreciated.

A VERY important point of note...exactly what are the terms of the Ames coupon (the fine print)? Unless you're very lucky (and Ames comitted a major booboo), you're not going to get a PS2 system for 30% off as it's likely an "Everyday Low Price" item (meaning NO discounts on it). I managed to pull off a 20% off when the Dreamcast first came out, but they quickly changed all the game systems to EDLP items.

Regardless of it being "Everyday low price" or not, it would be helpful if someone point out whether a copy will work or not!? C'mon. Someone please scan it... I am still fighting myself if I should order a Albany book... For $45......

So, has anyone actually got the 30% off a PS2 yet (with an original or a copied coupon)?

Just as an FYI...

The Ames stores here in Syracuse, New York periodically run a "30% off everything" sale, but there is ALWAYS a small blurb printed at the bottom that states "Everyday Low Price items are excluded from this sale."

I went back to the electronics department during their last sale, and noticed that the Dreamcast and PSOne had "Everyday Low Price" price cards above them but the Playstation 2 did NOT. However, when I attempted to purchase one, the register would not allow the 30% off. The manager stated that it was, in fact, an everyday low price item, and that the 30% coupon could not be used.

So, I'm not saying that the "Entertainment Guide" offer won't work, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't.

OMFG. I have 3 of those entertainment books sitting in my house right now!! My bro needs to sell them to fund his school's bowling team. I'll have to see if it has an Ames 30% off coupon.

:p Told ya! Ames' market demographic are senior citizens who they can usually pull something over on quite easily. They do those "Everyday Low Price" and "Special Buy" BS on purpose...to keep the stuff that's actually near reasonable cost right where it should be (everything else is usually 20-30% over everyone else, so the piddly discount they're giving you is peanuts)

you can get the books online at Entertainment.com, buy two and shipping is free. Look for code for $5 off too.

You cannot scan Entertainment coupons. You need the originals.

Ames is a regional department chain store like Wal-Mart or K-Mart but smaller. It declared Chapter 11 protection two or three months ago. I couldn't remember when I saw this news.

We got Ames sales flys almost every week. Sometimes there is a 30% or 40% off coupon for non sales item. May try to buy a PS2 when I have a coupon.
