PS1 vs. PS2 memory cards?

I have some memory cards that I'm not sure are for the Playstation or PS2. How can I tell? Two are Madcatz (one red, one black), and one is a Pelican (blue). Also how can I tell what size they are?

look at the games on each card?

try to save a game to the memory card using a real ps2 and a ps2 game?

look up the markings if there are any at all?

There a lot options....the easiest and fastest way is if you have access to a real PS2, or if you have one of those USB Memory Card Adapters. Atleast you could like at the size of the memory card (PS2 = 8 megs, PSX=128k [ i think]....but third party ones exist that are larger. But i've never seen an 8 meg PSX memory card, nor will there be a PS2 memory card smaller than 8 megs)

If it doesn't say what kind of memory card it is then it's likely for the original PlayStation. Original official PlayStation memory card were 128K in size, official PlayStation 2 cards are 8M in size. Unless your cards have buttons on them for selecting memory banks then they're likely to the same size as the offical cards.

Other than sticking them into a PlayStation or PlayStation 2 I can't suggest anything that would definatively tell you which kind of cards they are.

If I remember correctly, PS2 cards had square edges, PSX cards had rounded edges. Might not carry over to 3rd party cards.
