I recently purchased a Power Supply and Motherboard. I found out that the motherboard uses the 20 pin connection and the Power Supply has a 24 pin connector. I was just curious as to whether I needed to purchase a 24 to 20 pin adapter? Or if i could just pull the wires out of the last four wires and cut the extra plastic off?

Thanks for the help

I have several if you need one. Just let me know. Kind of like on the freebies forum--you pay for shipping only....

w/ 24 pin psu's if the last 4 pins are not removable you can plug in just the first 20 pins w/out issue in most cases and just let the extra 4 hang over the side.

What Arcane said. Usually you can plug a 24 pin connector into a 20pinj socket no problem. Just let the 4 pins overhang.

Thanks guys, I figured it out. It turns out that I could take the extra four pins off. Thanks for the help. Next time I'll try and stop my initial reaction from being "damn't"
