hey guys i have a old p3 500 system and the only fan in the system, the PS fan seems to be dying on me. It makes these grinding noises and seems to try to spin but is having problems.... i dont think its jammed but do i need to replace the whole PS or just replace the fan?
but the PS it self seems to be fine, no power problems. What do i do? how hard it is to replace? etc etc?
for now i hooked up a regular household fan to the case and left the side open for some cooling.

You can replace the fan only. Depends on PS, it may have an 80mm or 92mm fan. You just open all the screws, remove the fan (remember its location and orientation) then replace it with an exact size. Again, depends on PS, you might need to to some solderings or wire strippings to connect the new fan to the PS.

It's easy as long as you're careful. Good luck
