ok yesterday i got my 80mm high output sunon 4 pin fan from 2cooltek and immediately i went to work on my crappy 300watt DEER......
upon opening the power supply, i found it housed some generic 1.6watt sleeve bearing fan....
so i took out the fan header, spliced wires and connected them, closed the ps, and started up the system........
heheheheheeheheheheheh........the fan didnt work........
so i gave it a little push with a pen and it started spinning, but at about 200rpms.....i could see the fan blades turning it was going so slow.......
now after some tests with various other fans, i concluded that that stupid ps fan header couldn't provide more than 1.8watts of energy.......
so i had to wire the 80mm fan through one of the holes and hook it up to a 4 pin connector :)
now when i was testing (plz be CAREFUL when doing this) i had the wires spliced, and when i was about to move my fan (with the ps running), a piece of the wire hit the side of my metal case.......you know what happened next....
it all shorted out...........luckily, it didnt do any permanent damage, but it did leave a small burn mark about the size of a tic tac on the side of my case.......you should have seen the spark LOL.......so i hope this was informational, if not amusing....anyone have any experiences like this???? :):):):)

Yeah, ive got two, nothing with computers though.

1st: Newbie to wiring amps, I was about 14 years old. Ran the RCA cables to the back and wired the amp all nice and perty. I wired it mono to get some more power out of it, but stupid me I taped the extra wires together!. So my buddy was watching me and then all of a sudden he started yelling..

<< Dude! your deck is on fire!!! >>

. Seems as if the short had fried the Cd players RCA outputs.

2nd: Second car, wiring another stereo, this time in the dash. Pulled out the old one and needed to drive to the store for some of those wire nuts. One of the wires was bare and it struck the side of the housing and blew a fuse. All the lights in the car, including the console went out. Luckily the headlights still were on, otherwise I would have died. So drove the car by feel all the way home.

By the way, good idea to replace the PS fan. :D:eek:

:) thx............got a high output sunon 80mm (34dba, a whopping 42cfm)..........would have gotten a 50cfm adda, but that too loud (40dba i think)..........
also, gonna rip off some of those "grills" on the PS intake, since there's too little room to suck in a sufficient amount of air.......
where ARE those pliers?? eheh :)
