PS Fail or ... ?

Cliffs:
- 1 week old power supply was dead, now working again. WTH?

Longer:

New build ... put a Corsair HX650 in.
Machine worked flawlessly for 1 week until Saturday.
Came home and the computer was off.
Tried case power button and mobo - no power to system.
Checked all cables - not working.
Plugged in plugged in power supply tester - no light.

Old PSU - plugged in power supply tester to old PSU - light works.
Old PSU - Hook up to system to double check mobo, etc. System booted right up.
No biggie - figure new PSU dead ...

Start RMA for refund, order new PSU ... and tonight (Monday) I'm getting ready to box up the old one, figure now that it's out of the machine I'll test one more time ... and the damn light comes on! I turned it on/off a few times, light every time ... so I hooked it back up and it's working again.

Now I'm fearful that I won't get a refund ... or is there anything I could have done? I'm at a loss for trouble shooting ... doesn't make sense to me. Used PSU tester, checked cables, tried with different PSU ...

Anyone ever had this happen? Or am I losing my mind?

Some PSU's need reset on their power button or unplugging from wall to reset after a trip like power spikes and so on. Might be the reason here, my old Enermax liberty did that.

There could have been a motherboard-case short. You may want to inspect to avoid a repeat.

Just a follow up that the new PS is working so far so good.
Old one was refuned without any issue.
