PS 3 times out when getting an IP address

I have my PS3 using wireless G for a connection
I also have a wireless repeater between it and the router because of weak signal
it goes through checking encryption ok it is when it is obtaining an ip address that it hangs and times out

Then try setting it up with a static IP address outside your DHCP pool, or try moving it closer to see if you can get it to pick up an IP.. if you can you are just too far away
