We've been having trouble with Outlook too. Here at work a lot of us engineers get CAD files sent to us almost every day so the email piles up. When the Outlook database file, or whatever it's called, hits about 3 GB Outlook will crash and stop working. We had to find this out the hard way.
thought about setting up an exchange server with a giant hard drive?
that's how it's done here... works pretty good! i just don't like the client software.

it's all stored on one server/computer and you hav no worries about breaking your own machine
just make sure you got the space on the server, it works well if you do. (we had ours run out of space once too)

and just HOWis this OUTLOOKS problem?? sounds to me like your pop server is down for the moment.

Error code 0x800CCC0D is CANT_FIND_HOST
To troubleshoot this error message;
Step one is to check your Outlook settings, making sure that the POP3 and SMTP servers are correct, and that your full user name and password are correct. (Tip - watch out for SMTP misspellings or addresses with commas rather than full points). Then try to connect again.
If the settings are fine, but you are still having problems test your connection by following this procedure
Logon to the internet in the normal way. Click the Start button, then Run. Type in cmd on (Windows NT/2000/XP) or Command (Windows 95/98/ME) This opens a new window, with white text on a black screen. Type in the following. You may notsee what you are entering so take it slowly, and if you make a mistake, start again.
telnet (mail server name) 110 and hit the enter key
example: telnet mail.server.com 110
You will then be connected to the email server.
Type in USER (username) and hit the enter key
example: USER guyver01
You will then get a message +OK Please enter your pass, with the PASS command
Type in PASS yourpassword and click the Enter key.
example: PASS mypassword
If it is correct, you will get an OK message. If you can do this, you have connected to the email server and so the problem lies somewhere with Outlook.
If you can't get in this way either, it could be that your email password has somehow become corrupted, or the mail server is having issues.
Are you running anti virus software or firewalls? If so disable them and try again. If the problem has vanished, configuration of these products could be the problem, particularly if they are set to automatically scan incoming and outgoing email.
Are you running Windows XP? If so, disable the firewall there too and try again.
If you are still getting this error message, there are two more drastic options to try. The first is to reinstall TCP/IP from scratch in case this component of Windows has somehow become corrupted.
If you're still having problems, it could be that Outlook itself is corrupt.
I had outlook decide to delete all my emails for no reason, didn't have a ton of em, just ones that I felt I needed to keep. Just opened outlook up one day and they were all gone, not in the deleted items outlook folder or anywhere that I could find them. Though, the emails that were in the deleted files folder were still there...
POP = Post Office Protocol (currently at version 3 I believe). Common mail terminology, look it up.
