PROXY RECOMMENDATIONS

ok, here's the prob:

I have two client comps and a small server with dsl. All I want is a SIMPLE TO SET UP, VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD proxy program that will allow the clients to DO EVERYTHING on the internet. (web, telnet, q2, q3a, icq, hl, all games, all applications EVERYTHING) hopefully with minimal or no configuration required for the applications using it.

I have tried sooooooo many different ones and there always seems to be a problem.
PLEASE HELP! does anybody know of an application that can provide what I need?

Thanks.

Caldera Linux and Squid.

Read about Squid here: Squid Page

It's very flexible and Linux's requirements aren't steep.

Not including the Linux installation, it's possible to get Squid working in just a few minutes (definitely less than 30...less if you comfortable with Linux).

I would also suggest going the NAT route. I currently use Sygate on my server running Windows NT server and have found it to be great. Largely cuz now I can have varying clients connect to the Internet without having to install any proxy software. You could do something similar with Linux routing as well..ipchains should do it for you..Regards
