Proxomitron security issue

I'm using Proxomitron web filter (best filter btw) and have my internet connection set to proxy "localhost" port "8080" so that my connection passes through the filter, but the problem is that anything that tries to access the internet, either devious or legitimate, and uses the internet connection settings to do it, gets free access past the firewall, since the firewall only sees the Proxomitron, which is allowed.

Any solution to this other than to not use a proxy filter like this?

I don't know of any solution, the firewall just isn't going to be able to tell what application is making the original request. Which FW, btw, are you actually using? One option is to (try) and convince them to incorporate the Proxomitron technology directly in (long shot)
