The universal signal that a game is going to suck.

Hopefully Prototype breaks the trend, oh well, I'm gonna go play some more Infamous now.

I think you're going to be wrong... but who knows. It looks a bit dumb, but also fun.

And yes. inFamous is great. A lot longer than I thought. I like the ability updates, and the buying of new. Adds some strategy. The loading is nice too. You click the game in the manu, and it loads your latest level for you.

There's a press embargo until the day after release for some reason. One tiny british website broke it with a 9/10 review, I guess everyone else is going to play nice and keep their mouths shut.

So I guess I should probably weight a bit on this. I played the game for 10-15 min at E3 and it just wasnt a fun as I was hoping it would be. This game might be in trouble. However the game does hit the streets today and hopefully I'm wrong because I want this game to be good.

Yeah I picked up inFamous and like it a LOT. I'm hoping Prototype is good too but the lack of reviews before launch is very worrisome, thus I'm not buying it for a few weeks at least. If at all.

I played it for about 40 minutes. it's okay, seems like it will be fairly easy. the combat is kind of what you would expect in a game like this, and i haven't really explored the city yet at all.

the best feature in this game though is the run button ...

you hold it and just press forward and you do just that - run like hell. he will automatically jump over cars and stuff, run up buildings, etc,

It seems like usually if a developer embargos reviews until launch day, then they don't have much confidence in their product and want to make as much money on impulse buys as possible.

Has this been confirmed as an embargo, or is it just a theory? We did have E3 last week... I guess its possible that everyone is just behind because no one was around to play it.

If there are review before launch that could also mean that those reviews were bought and paid for.

This doesn't mean anything. Just *wait* for reviews.

Sure, reviews pre-release *could* mean they were paid for, but no reviews pre-release pretty much means they have no faith in the game.

I really want to get this game but don't want to drop $60 and regret it. I guess I'll just pick it up anyways, the reviews seem positive so far and I've like games others didn't.

Why don't you just rent it before blowing $60?

Id rather play it on the PC, than the console. I just dont want a crappy port. Aiming with a mouse is much better for me.

So far.. inFamous is better than Prototype.. in my opinion, though a different type of game, Prototype just feels harder to get into the story and the game play is quite finicky.. Basically do as much damage as you can do the city.

Its kind of meh. Pure action game. Though entertaining, but fun wears off after a bit.

First impressions!

This is game kind of strange in the way it's designed.

It starts you off with every power unlocked for tutorial purposes, and then throws way too many informational dialog boxes up at you. It makes you not want to care! Meanwhile you'll basically experienceing sensory overload from the craziness of the extreme jumping, tank throwing, the jumping infestation of bloody mutants and crashing helicopters.

Suddenly everything gets taken away from you and they begin to develop the character while...teaching you more stuff!

I feel like they should have completely removed the into tutorial level and just let the player slowly learn abilities as they unlock them like most games in this genre (which, to be fair, the also do)--but just choose the latter.

About an hour into the game the difficulty ramps up to extreme difficultly (at least for me it was) and out of nowhere. I died 8 times during this specific sequence involving several of the most generic bloody-skinless-Silent-Hill-monster-thingys you've ever seen. It was pointless, boring and left me wanting it to end so I could just get back to the city, runnning and jumping--which, right now, is the only fun thing to do in the game.

Since the comparison will be inevitable with inFAMOUS--I'll go there. These games really are nothing alike. Yes, they're both open-world games with super-powered protagonists, but when you sit down with both games and play them, they feel so different in gameplay, asthetic and atmosphere! Overall I think Cole is a more interesting charcter (even though he's really not that interesting) and the world he travels around in is incredibily more exciting and detailed to play in. Hell, inFAMOUS even has a story that is, at the very least, slightly intruiging too.

But hey, who knows right? Perhaps Prototype will take a drastic turn somewhere and will change my mind. I hope it does because I want to play a good video game.

Oh, and the game's graphics are about as dull as can be. :(

Got Prototype for PC...

I got to say...the game is kinda a 50/50 chance type thing, either you'll love it or hate it...

Im actually surprised to say that I kinda enjoy it...its a nice getaway from all the more serious games and kinda just lets you do as you please all while kicking ass.

Story line is meh, but it is interesting if you take the type to listen and watch cutscenes...story actually plays out to be rather enjoyable.

Game play and controls are excellent and I have yet to have a difficult time playing to game, save for some of the more difficult story missions as they can be quite hard, and not enemy wise, but just task wise...like, collect this from this, while defending it from this whilst also defending yourself from this as well...too many things to fight and or defent yourself from can make the missions seem a little heavy and chaotic...having diseased fighting you while having to fight the military at the same time...meh, like I said, not difficult, but just heavy...too much to do at once.

Sound is nothing to get excited about but it works, does what its supposed too with a decent score.

Graphics are again 50/50...looks good in some areas, bad in others...draw distance, especially on the PC is not adjustable...basically just a console port. Again, not GREAT but not BAD either, like I said, the only draw back is draw distance...I mean, if Spiderman 2 on the PS2 could generate and show the entire city at once with no obstructing fog, no reason why this game can't, despite the physics and AI...and not only does it not show a lot of the city at once, there have been times where you have to give it a few seconds to just catch up...Ill land in a street that has no people, cars, lamp post, only for all of these to pop up like 5 seconds later...

Game play wise its awesome...won't go into detail, but I will say that the Parkour style running and jumping works extremely well...running on the streets causes the character to automatically scale fences, jump over vehicles, dash through a crowd...all very seamless and fast...if theres one thing this game got right is the controls and the way the character response in the world around him.

Over all I would have to give it a 7/10...even though this isn't a all that good rating, its still worth checking out, and like I said, I find it quite enjoyable save for the technical issues...just a shame to wait for a game for a couple years only for it not really be as good as the say.
