They're not registering their guns in Connecticut and now they're burning registration forms in NY. I find it damned encouraging to see people taking a stand. Fuck the leftist bastards who are attempting this shit. Registration leads to confiscation.

Protesters Burn Gun Registration Forms

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Nearly a thousand gun registration forms were turned into ashes Sunday.

The forms are used for people to register with New York State Police firearms that meet the state’s definition of military-style assault weapons. The deadline is April 15. Gun rights advocates gathered at the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge 161 to burn the papers in a symbolic protest.

Whole lot of fail in this thread because:

1) Cars are not a right.
2) Cars are not forced to be registered at all.
3) Car registration only occurs when someone wants to drive it on a public roadway.
4) Gun registration in most states that allow public carrying of firearms requires registration for carrying a gun in public.

So you have a really bad analogy going on.

agreed.

so, then will you guys also promise to never bring up car deaths whenever someone mentions gun deaths?

cool.

There are some cases to be made for car deaths being relevant - mainly around prioritization of problems. You might very well save A LOT more people trying to reduce car deaths than you would save attempting to ban guns.

People would say it is absolute and utter stupidity to claim we will save lives by only allowing 10 gallons of gas in a car and yet some how only allowing 10 bullets in a gun will.

Loving all the terrible analogies...

So um, what does requiring gun registration have to do with infringing upon your supposed holy enshrined right to carry a gun?

Good for people not taking shit and standing up for their rights. This is civil disobedience I can agree with. The idiot leftists that seek to disarm those rightfully entitled to bear arms are going to face one hell of a fight.....a potentially bloody one.

A more apt analogy is voter registration. You don't register, you don't get to exercise your right to vote.

A better analogy yet is speech. You don't register, you don't get free speech...

Or something like that.

If you don't get a permit, you don't get to exercise "the right of the people peaceably to assemble". And even if you do, you have to keep you speech under a certain noise level as set by city ordinance.

One of the first things a totalitarian/statist regime imposes is firearm registration, that way they can collect them up when they want. Ask the Canadians about that.

I freely associate and peaceably assemble pretty much every day. No permit required or needed.

Democracy, a form of government in which the many can take away the rights of the few.

Why do you have to register to exercise your rights?

Yes I know people register to vote, but that is to make sure people vote in the county they live.

How about we make gays register? Maybe make all the jews register? Maybe make all the muslims or catholics register?

How about blacks? If you have no problem with making gun owners register, can we make all the black people register? If a black person has not registered, then they go to jail. Is that ok with you?

The purpose of car registrations is to tax the car for road maintenance and verify mandatory insurance requirements. Car ownership is a priveledge. You can't tax a right like gun ownership so this reason for registration is out the window.

The purpose of voter registration is to assign primaries and voter locations. You don't assign guns to locations, so thats not the reason for gun registration.

Knowing thousands of people own guns and what type of gun is worthless information, unless you plan to take those guns away. There is no reason other than confiscation. The confiscation could be legal in the case of taking guns from recently convicted felon or illegal, taking guns from law abiding citizens for the reason of "security". Ultimately it is all about taking them away.
