Setting up a rig with older parts - Abit Be6 Board with Celery 533. Whenever it detects new hardware it gets about halfway through the process and then gives me a protection fault. I was able to install an nic card but even that gave me a fault problem. Any ideas?

i assume you're installing with ALL your hardware in at once right?

If so, my suggestion would be to start with just the basics : video card, cpu, ram, and power.

then, once windows is installed, add hardware one at a time and it might make it easier or at least let you track down the faulty hardware

I did it nice and slow. I started with just a vid card (geforce 256) and then added a nic card. It gave me a prtoection fault but managed to install. I've tried two sound cards in different slots with the same result.

have you tried taking the NIC out and installing other cards w/out the NIC in there?
