Protecting my flash disk

I plug my flash into various computers in the university.
my last flash suddenly got write protected after I plugged it into one of the computers and I havn't been able to do anything to it.
I'm assuming it's a virus.
my flash doesn't have one of those thingies on the side which allow u to lock it.

any ideas how to fix it?
is it possible?

any way is there any tiny protection software I can instal;l on my flash?

BTW kaspersky doesn't detect anything on my flash.

How do I gain ownership?
I can't touch any of the files.
I've got backups anyway.

the thing is I don't know what to try!
whatever I do I get the message saying unable to perform the task because disk is write protected.

Right click the drive, properties, security, advanced, owner, click user, tick box, apply, ok.

Right click the drive, properties, security, go into add user, add user, tick top box on the allow column. Try again to access drive

I tried that. the security tab is missing.
I forgot to mention that it appears as a partition not a removable drive.
