Proposed system

Well, after a while looking around the boards, I have finally come up with my new system. I have my finger over the order button but am wondering if I am missing anything, or if there are any incompatibilities I am overlooking.

I already have the motherboard (Epox 9NDA3+) from a month or so ago (aquired from a friend for free).

These are the proposed parts that I will be ordering. HDD/Keyboard/Video/Audio are already taken care of, as I already have those laying here waiting.

Antec plusview 1000AMG case
Antec 430W PS
A64 3000+ Venice Rev. E (retail)
1GB OCZ (2x512) PC-3200 RAM
Thermalright xp-120
Panaflow 120mm FBA12G12U (115cfm ultra high speed fan)
three extra 80mm case fans (two come with the case)
Logitech cordless mouse

All those above are currently running (from the order screens) about $565 shipped

I have an ATI AIW 9200 (AGP)
two IBM 75GXP drives (yes, they work fine... 🙂 )
no-name keyboard (wont use it anyhow)
onboard audio will be fine as I will rarely use it
Sony 12X DVD-ROM

This rig will be used strictly for encoding raw footage to DVD-compliant MPGs for my buisness. I have another rig that is up and running, but it is older and based on the Sempron (3100+).

Any incompatibilities that I need to be aware of, or anything Im overlooking before I order?

Thanks for the advice!

Anybody? I have just ordered the system now, but can make changes or additions if need be...

Anything Im missing? Anything Ive overlooked?

I dont plan on using the fans unless it becomes needed. I plan on adding another PCI card to the system in short order (as soon as I find the time to migrate it from my firewall PC). The card is an Adaptec Quartet64 (4-port 10/100 ethernet card). That card puts out a LOT of heat (more than the video card) and I might need the extra cooling.

On top of that, I might migrate my AIW cards around and put the 9800 in the new rig and the 9200 in the older one (the Sempron machine). This will push the heat up as well.

I will use the minimun number of fans that gets the job done, but I dont want to have to hunt down fans to add. I would rather have the fans on hand and not need them for this particular PC.

I do plan on going with a dual core machine, but I will be doing that in about a year. For now, these two machines will do for the volume of buisness I have. I am using this as a stop-gap measure until the X2 comes down in price and until i REALLY needed it.

I have about eight machines up and running in my room, and most of them do low level stuff to aid in my buisness (background stuff that normally would be taken by one computer, such as packet sniffing and filtering)

The three rigs in my sig are the only ones in my room, and they are isolated in a corner of the room that I dont visit too often (only to insert DVD blanks and to make changes to the hardware). I dont really notice the noise, and they do make a lot of it (when you are close by). The Thunderbird machine has an alpha heatsink on it with a fan that does 5400 rpm (high noise).

hopefully by next year, ill also have the money to get some dedicated hardware to help with the encoding so that I dont need to depend so heavily on the CPU.

Thanks for the advice guys.
