Looks like an awesome system! BTW, the U1A can move alot of air (114 CFM!), but it will sound like a jet engine. If noise is an issues, you may want to look at some other models. That being said, I can care less for noise and I have two of them being delivered now for my case...

Why does he have to get it from newegg? He is getting his RAM there. I tlooks like he is shopping around and saving money.

Obviously he is overclocking - CPU motherboard, RAM, and heatsink are perfect for it. Whyb would he need a 3 year warranty if he plans to invalidate it in a week...

Looks good, I would only consider a couple things. BF2 seems to use a ton of memory with settings on high, have you considered going with 2GB's. I also think that maybe you don't really need to go with the OCZ Gold, you should do just fine with the OCZ Value VX, if you want to save a bit of money it will work about the same as the gold. I also don't know what your budget is like, but if you are using the machine for gaming get the best video card you can afford, this will make the bigest improvement for you games. I would maybe try for the x850pro, not too much more then the card you have selected.

i would get the ocz gold. dfi boards dont do well with "value" memory. also you didnt list power supply dfi requires at least 480 watts and native 24 pin. alot are using ocz modstream or fortron blue storm 500 watt for example.any questions concerning dfi nforce 4 boards i recommend www.dfi-street.com

Ummm not true at all, DFI boards do fine with value memory, just not the ultra nforce4 boards, also you need to look into some information on this before you post. The DFI ultra nforce 4 board works very nicely with OCZ Value VX, I wouldn't recomend any other value ram, but the OCZ works very well.

Yep it will work just fine with that, the only thing is, and this isn't a rumor, it won't overclock as nearly as well with anything else but some VX from OCZ, but that board will work nicely with any decent memory, and the Corsair value is good stuff.

you are complety correct, creativetom. most people can't get an overclock out of this ram, but what do you expect from $80 a gig?

I was just pointing out to the OP that the people that said value ram wont work or have problems are probalby wrong.

I want the XP-120 for noise/preformance ratio. I really think that with this mobo the OCZ Gold VX is the way to go, with all that voltage at my disposal I can overclock those babies to hell. 2gb still seems a little much for me, later I might get 2 more sticks of the Gold VX (if it will fit with the XP-120) because according the Zebo's benching 2T really doesn't bring much of a preformance hit.

*Edit* Right now the timings on gig sticks are horrible, so it seems to me that 4x512 will give me preformance if I decide to go that route in the future.

I have a ModStream 520w.

Yea and I am just looking for someone to confirm that this is a Venice core 3000. And how do you tell?

If you're playing those games or looking to keep your rig for the next couple of years get 2GB of RAM ad get it now.

As for bad timings that's not quite true.

Crucial Value sticks are just speed binned DDR500 Ballistix sticks and some have been reported to be hitting 2.5-2-2 at DDR400 and 3-3-3 at around 240-250mhz. While not guaranteed many people have been reporting that. Now that is all at 2.8V which is *alot* better than 3.1V+ where you start needing extra cooling = extra noise or otherwise placing more stress on the components.

Also on value RAM i think i heard Muskin doing some good 1GB RAM sticks (by infinion) - there was another post on here which covered it if you do a search. The guy was doing about 245mhz at 2.5-3-3 last I heard.

Of course, if you want true power some 1GB Ballistix DR4000 have been reported to do 2.5-2-2 at DDR500 @2.8V and even creeping towards 290mhz at looser timings.....

Anyway, in short you can get value RAM (cheaper than expensive 512MB sticks) that not only overclock well but can actually offer better performance. About 2T performance if you're looking to upgrade to dual-core later on (eg when they go 65nm later on) you'll no doubt benefit alot from not losing bandwidth to 2T and in fact having the additional bandwidth those value overclocking sticks can do.

Some more thoughts.

I'm hoping the 939 socket stays around for a LOOONG time.

ATI (Connect3D) Radeon X800 XL 256MB

Mixed feeling about the video card, not sure if I should get something more powerful. Playing mostly CS:S and BF2.

Not bad system.....Mine is very similar (see my sig)...eg venice 3000 and connect 3d X800XL....

I can run BF 2 at mostly high settings at 1280x960 and am very happy...haven't tried CS:source yet with my new card but ran very well on my old FX5950 ultra so am expecting good things...
