Proposal

I've been lurking for a while so I've seen some of the many unintentional flamefests that arise. I was wondering if it might be possible to allow users to have mod powers over their own threads (power to delete/edit posts) with a mark detailing what post was deleted/edited and why. Obviously the mods would still be able to supersede the user's authority in all issues, but as the OP will most likely give more attention to their thread than a mod, it may help to stem the flamefests.

To prevent abuse of the power, a post to be deleted/edited would be given a warning before editing/deletion, which would also show up in their post. This warning would last for 18 hours (from the rate of posts I've seen in some of the forums, this seems like a good compromise).

With the limited number of Mods, I doubt this would be good idea.

I see this power being abused in FS/FT forums esp when good AT members warns others about Trolls, etc.

A P&N where the OP can mod his own threads...

I didn't say it would eliminate the problem, but I definitely think it would help.

Those who could be trusted with such authority... do not need it.

the rest would find a way to abuse it and wreak havoc.

Yeah, thing would go wrong so quickly that it would actually happen backwards in time and the forum would spiral out of control *before* the change was implemented. 😛
