Proposal to start a vi/vim site, anyone interested?

I've actually been doing all my programming on vim lately so that I can work on a compilers project on a Unix machine via ssh. I used to wonder how/why anyone used it on a regular basis but I've actually gotten used to it.

Also I was working in eclipse today and noticed I kept typing ":w" in my files 😀

Mainly because (1) some of us have invested a good deal of time in learning to use ViM, and (2) AFAIK, Visual Studio doesn't have anything close to ViM's regular expressions support. Oh, and (3) I'm using Linux.

By the way, did you know vim.org has a lot of tips?

why would anyone ever want to use something so ass backward as VI?

I've been programming in SML lately and VIM is one of the few editors that actually has syntax highlighting for that language.

Visual Studio is great though IMO, but it's only available if you're working in a .NET environment. If you learn VIM it's not as archaic as you might think.

+1 to pro-vim arguments.

But, given all the other vim sites, I honestly don't see anything compelling about a new vim site.
