Ok... I am a little upset right now. This kyro card is the worst computer part I have ever bought. I installed a clean copy of Win2k Server. Tried to install Hercules drivers, error message saying the version of windows is wrong (win2k drivers though). Went to powervr.com and downloaded drivers from there. They installed I got a working desktop 32bit color and everything.:D

But then I rebooted...

Tried logging in, took the password and what??? Back to press CTRL + ALT + DEL to log on. Okay. Put password in same thing. Powered off and on again. Now getting a message that the SAM is messed up! Rebooted in safe mode, I got in! Uninstalled Prophet 4500 and rebooted. Got in again but with VGA Compatible graphics display.:disgust:

Can anyone please tell me how to work around this?!?!?

BTW I know the solutions that involve buying a new graphics card.:p

PLEASE HELP!

I dont think the problem is with your card, i think it may be Windows related. I dont know how you came to the conclusion that dropping back to the password screen was the fault of your video card, but I guess I cant rule it out. Drivers can cause Windows to do weird things when they dont install properly so it may be the herc drivers.

I bought a generic brand Kyro2 and i love it! great FPS in all the games I play, great 2D, and no driver problems at all. But maybe im lucky :)

If I were you, I'd d/l ALL the latest drivers for ALL your components, format, then reinstall everything.

It has to be the graphics drivers. Don't get me wrong, the card works fine on 98SE, 2000 Professional, and XP Professional. However, when I add the drivers, it does not work. I am able to login when I remove the drivers, when I add them, I can't. The only drivers that install are the PowerVR ones. But I can't login after a reboot afterwards.

Forcing the Herc drivers result in a BSOD abend after a reboot while it is loading. The error is a driver entry point not found.

I have tried upgrading DirectX, applied Service Pack 2, updated all my other drivers, removed unnecesasry hardware, etc.

Agh! I want to set up my Win2k server!

BTW Linux drivers are out for it at www.powervr.com
