I have a PowerColor X1900XT I need to uninstall from my computer. My brother is giving me a cheapo PCI-E X1300 to use for the time being. Do I need to uninstall the video card via Control Panel - Uninstall Software, or is there a better way like a driver removal program? In the past I've always just taken the card out and put my new one in, but this time I'd like to do it the proper way!

Thanks!

since your going from ati -> ati, i think u can just swap them and the drivers should adjust accordingly on its own

Ahh, since they use the same driver set. That's GREAT news. Now I don't have to set my whole computer up to remove the card.

Thanks!

To ensure best results, I'd do the uninstall driver, use driver cleaner, then install new driver routine.

no need to use driver cleaner, the ATI uninstall utility that comes with the drivers is sufficient.

I agree with BassBomb that you should be fine just swapping the cards, just to be safe, make sure to create a restore point before touching anything & be prepared to swap back if anything does go wrong... I went form a 9600XT to a 9800 Pro in my daughters PC a few months ago without a hitch

You don't need to do anything with the drivers, just swap the card. I swap ATI cards without reinstalling drivers all the time.

With ATI, you don't want to install drivers any more than you have to :)
