proper parenthetical citation for online sources?

No comments about Wikipedia please. My teacher suggested using it for his geography class (freshmen level).

This is the sentence in my paper without parenthetical citation:
Eventually the European Union transformed into the supranational organization and intergovernmental body that it is today.

This is what it comes from on Wikipedia:
The EU has evolved from a western European trade body into the supranational and intergovernmental body that it is today.

This is the entry in my Works Cited
"European Union." Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia. 20 Apr 2007, 18:22 UTC. Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. 21 Apr 2007

I'm going to go ahead and say that this sentence definitely needs a parenthetical citation, the question is what would it be (MLA style)
It has been awhile since I've written a paper for school requiring citations (about 3 years).

My guess was ("European Union.", 2007) - If this is correct on longer topics such as say, "The Commonwealth of Independent States." is it ok to use ellipses ex. ("The Commonwealth...", 2007)?

Thanks, great site.
I guess it is correct then, it doesn't really detail the online citations in the in-text citation section but does say in the absence of an author use the works title.
