well i have to rma my board, and now i need to remove the xp-90 without pulling out the cpu like what happened last time (lol). anyway i want to know the best way to get it out without taking my cpu with it.

someone told me to wiggle it and slowly pull it out, but theres no real way to wiggled the xp-90 because of how it mounts.

someone else said to run prime95 for 30 mins (till max temp) then quickly shut down and tkae it off... but really my cpu goes back to 32C after about 5 secs so im not sure if this will work either.

any suggestions and knowledge from experience is welcome ^_^
 
Just kill the power to the PC at max temp and rock it back and forth a lilltle. Not going to hurt anything....

I have had the same board and 90, take a small pocket screwdriver and use it in the two exposed clips to pry down and away from the retention bracket , and keep downward pressure on it to make sure it doesn't pop up on that side, then gently slide it towards the remaining two fasteners that are clipped onto the retention bracket. I stress gently, and expecially "carefully". I had this bounce on me one time and because the AS5 sticks fast to the sink and cpu it flattened several rows of pins when it came back down. then use your screwdriver again to unclip another fastner, then you can wiggle it laterally to break the grip on the cpu. then rock it back and wiggle it to remove the last clip. I have had this on and off many times and you will develop a safe pattern to do it without damaging your spensive hardware. Good luck!
