Proper Driver Installation Procedure When Changing from Nvidia to ATI (or vice versa)

I just built my new rig (Rig 1, below), and am installing my newly received 5850. I sold my 8800gts over this past weekend, and that was the card I used to get the new rig up and running. Since W7 on my HDD already has Nvidia drivers, is there a way (with the 5850 installed) to erase them before getting into Windows? Basically, I'm seeing if there's a driver cleaner-type method of doing this so that there are no driver conflicts with the ATI card. Is there something I can do in Safe Mode? All help is greatly appreciated!

The best way to remove video driver is to remove all video drivers from safe mode through control panel. Once removed, delete its directories manually if it is still there, then reboot and run registry cleanner, then reboot before installing the new ATI driver. After that, reboot and run registry cleaner again.

Just uninstall the drivers through the normal add/remove programs system. You don't need anything else except in rare circumstances.

If you try to fix what isn't broken, you just might break it with the "fix."
