Hi, I am using the drive in title as a media cache drive for adobe premiere video editing + a few simulator games installed (DCS world, xplane, star citizen) which really need the SSD.

What is the proper setup beyond plug and play and format to NTFS?

1. Trim enabled - yay or nay?
2. Is overprovisioning needed? If so, best way to do it? (just leave additional space "unallocated" in disk management, or do I need to use the Samsung tool?)
3. How much over provisioning is needed?
4. Should I run samsung magician's "performance optimization" or steer clear? why?

Anything else?

Thanks much!

1. Yes, leave TRIM enabled.
2. Any free space on the drive will be treated as OP, so just leave it be.
3. See #2, just don't fill the SSD all the way up.
4. The performance optimization in Magician will just take you here in Windows 10:

Totally agree with UsandThem. Especially #3.

Nothing. As UsandThem and corkyg have already said.

Your questions are essentially legacy at this point, they are only applicable to early (pre-SATA3) SSDs. Everything is taken care of by the OS and the on-SSD controller.
