I used to buy a new grill every few years due to rusting out or lack of parts. I've had my weber for over 5 years now and it still looks like the day I bought it.
 
Another vote for Weber. I had one of the Charbroil infrared propane grills...it lasted me 4 years, but I didn't love it enough to want to put money into replacement parts for it.

This year I got a Weber Genesis E-330, and I love it. It is significantly better than the Charbroil in every way possible...and Charbroil isn't a really low-cost/value brand if you look at the market.
 
Fwiw, my $100 charbroil still works fine after 6 years. The heat tent needs to be replaced but other than that, it's fine. For the amount of grilling I do, a cheap char broil works fine. I leave it out in the winter (exposed) too.
 
i am actually really happy with my kitchen aid branded grill from HD mane of the same features as teh higher end webbers and priced about 500. it cooks excellent and i love the stove style burner ignition, (which actually works better then on my 2k dacor duel fuel range)

it is made by nexgrill, who makes a bunch of other brands. I have had it for a full summer now and the stainless and surfaces are holding up well and I really like the stainless welded grates. I did add some lava rock in the bottom to help control flareups.

From everything I have read it's Weber or nothing. I don't quite understand paying $150 more for SS over the enameled ones. You can pick up a Genesis E330 for less than an S310.

Best thing about Weber is the availability of parts. I know so many people that had to throw out their non-Weber grills because they couldn't find parts for it.

I prefer SS internals. I think it's easier to take care of and it lasts longer. The $150 extra is really for the SS internals. If you swap out the enameled or cast iron grates and all the insides of the Genesis E series to SS, it's pretty much equaled to S series in price or more. Genesis EP series are nice because you get the nice SS internals and the enameled exterior. Best of both worlds IMO. I have the Genesis S330 and absolutely love the grill. I wouldn't get the S310 because it lacks the side burner. I find the side burner extremely handy for cooking food that might smell up the house.
 
from what I've looked into, the weber genesis line is the cheapest unit that won't just rust from the inside out after 2 years without getting into real expensive commercial grade stuff.
 
I've decided on a weber, just can't decide if I should stay with the spirit E320 or drop a few $100s more on a Genesis. I'm going to hold off for another month to see if prices go down for fall season then pull the trigger on one of these. Thanks all!

A friend of mine bought a Brinkman a couple of months ago, and its terrible. Its fairly thin, and heat and smoke escapes from all over the place. The only reason he bought it was because he didn't want to clean his Weber because it was unused for 5+ years. So after using the Brinkman a few times he bought a replacement grill for his Web ($20), cleaned out the cob webs, and its much better than the Brinkman. Holds in the heat and smoke nicely. For the smoking and slow cooking he uses the Weber now, but the Brinkman is OK for basic grilling.

You know what you made me do today....

After writing in this forum I started to get a taste for grilled chicken. I went to the store and bought two whole birds and marinade. I split one of them and put on my weber. 30 minutes on each side. Ate one and wrapped the other up for tomorrow.

Weber Genesis E-330 here in copper. Replaced a 3yr old Charbroil designer series SS, it literally caught fire. Worst grill I have ever owned. Took the Weber plunge at $799, and it was well worth it!

I picked up an older model Weber Silver Genesis with side burner for insane $75 from CL with a propane tank after watching for a few weeks. The lady was moving to an apt and had to get rid of it fast and don't think she knew what it was worth - at least $200 easy. She posted at noon and it was on my truck at 4pm. A quick clean up and replacing the rusted flavorizer bar and it was practically spanking new. Picked up a couple of empty tanks at yard sales for $3-$5 each and traded for new tanks and I'm in business. My last Weber I bought new for $400 15 yrs ago was still rocking 12 yrs later and I only parted with it *tears* because I was moving half way cross country and it was natural gas. There's a reason why people say everyone eventually get a Weber.
 
Weber Q 3200. It's still $400 though. I have the previous version which appears nearly identical. I really like it compared to the cheaper brands I had previously.

I think that's pretty much the standard price everywhere. Amazon has it $799. Around this time of the year, you can sometimes find certain Home Depot or Lowes stores clearing out old models on clearance. But that's very YMMV. I was lucky and able to buy the new Weber Genesis S-330 in the spring for little over $500 from HHGregg couple years back but I haven't seen any deals like that since other than random Home Depot/Lowes clearance deals.

If you can find the EP line of Genesis in your area it is the best of both worlds. Ceramic exterior with stainless interior. Price is right between the E and S version. For example I got the EP-330 for $800 when the E-330 was $750 and the S-330 was $900. Won't find the EP at the big box stores though.

The prices don't really ever go down. Just so you know, I've heard the Spirit line is not nearly as durable as the Genesis line.
 
I posted a similar thread about five years ago, every said get a Weber, ultimately I did not - I got a CharBroil Infrared, it was about $399 I think, and I absolutely love it. It still works perfectly, despite the fact that it gets used hard, has been moved 3x (including once across the country). It's not rusting, it's not falling apart, no issues at all - and it cooks great. Very hot very fast, incredibly even heat, and love using the trough for wood chips. Highly recommended.

I gotta be honest, I don't understand what people are doing to their non-Weber grills that they all break or rust out. This one has not after five years, and growing up, we had some cheapo off brand grill that couldn't have been much more than $100 that we had for most all of my childhood. If you take care of things, they stay nice. Maybe the Webers seem more durable because people actually take of a grill when they spend $700 on it? I dunno....
 
I have a Ducane (built by Weber, same warranty - same warranty service center) and it has been excellent the past two years. I don't believe they are being produced anymore, but if you can find a used on that looks like a good deal it would be well worth it and likely a big savings over a Weber.
