Proof that the Antec sx1040 ps is the same as the chieftech wx-01d!

First, go here..., click to the 4th image, and take note of the "cwt 420-atx12"...

Then go here, scroll to 4th image...

You will see a big antec logo with a asomethingsomething...you think i am wrong, but look down in the lower left hand corner, and there you see it!: cwt 420-atx12!!

So Antec ps is same as chieftech, cept chieftech has no smartfan

So spending $53 more for the antec (which only has 2 fans and a "smart fan" in the psu) is pointless! shipping costs $1 more for antec too!

Chieftech makes the case but the PSU and warrenty are from Antec both of which are betterr than what Chieftech offers. <----This info came from MaximumPC Mar2002 edition

well.... you need to write a letter to "MaximumPC" and tell them they are wrong. Chen-ming manufactures the cases... and sells them to Chieftech, Antec, and Enermax who adds their products of their choosing and sells them.

Now, if only someone could find this case in the "IBM Black" w/ a 400+ PS...I'd be eternally grateful!
At work, I have the charcoal color right next to the IBM black, and the charcoal looks gray. Black is much sleeker.

Newegg carries the Enermax version of this case in a true black color. I have heard people call it "IBM black".Here's the link. It's the one called "Enermax, FS-710B. BLACK, 10-Bay, Enermax 330W P-4 PS, Server Tower Case " for $99.

That's VERY odd. So the Channel Well PSUs offered in the Chieftech cases are Antec PSUs in disguise... or vice-versa?

I see that the Antec PSU has "CWT 420ATX12 Channel Well" written on the bottom. And that is the same model number on the Channel Well PSU in the Cheiftech case.

How very odd.

Maybe Antec buys the Channel Well PSUs and adds the "Smart Fan" on them? Why is the Channel Well branded PSU rated at 420W and the Antec rated at 400W?

Channel Well is the OEM supplier for Antec's power supplies much the same way Chen-ming is suppling the cases. The CTW-420 does come in a couple of different configurations however so one needs to be careful. The model included in the Cheiftec case is the same as the Antec 400W'er, including the thermo controled fan. Check this review link. for more details.

In the article it states that the Antec case are "Made by Chieftec and that Antec issued alert It has come to our attention that some unscrupulous resellers are selling cases from other companies as Antec case and the way to check your case is to check your power supply, check your part number it shounld say SX1030B or SX1040 and to make sure the warranty in the box says three years which is the length of Antec's warranty.

I have the 1040 and I checked all of that the only thing diff is my PSU it a 350 watt Antec instead of the 400w.
I think I'll go to compusa and check out the cases they are selling.

SX1035B is a valid part, for awhile CompUSA had an exclusive on it, but we've opened it up to others.

The warning was geared to resellers what were selling the Chieftec or Enermax versions but saying they were Antec, or even just using our name to sell whatever version of the case: "Same as Antec's SX..." or similar type. We don't care that they sell them, just don't use our name unless you're selling our version. Basically we've had people buy other versions and then call us for warranty issues or call once they received it because it wasn't in an Antec box etc.
