It's hard to imagine people attacking Kerry when we have a living breathing catastrophe as our President. All efforts should be directed at removing that disaster.

Would have helped if your party had found a suitable candidate for replacement. :p

A piece of sh!t would be a better candidate than Bush.

You heard it here first folks! Moonbeam to launch write-in candidacy!

Kerry's latest defense of our enviroment...

charters an entire Boeing 727 to fly from Washington DC to Boston (flight time about one hour)
that works out to 1,844 gallons of jet fuel.

lets do a little creative calculating...
i get about 17 miles/gallon in my big fat Lexus
i drive about 8,000 miles/year..
1,844 gallons X 17 miles/gallon = 31,348 miles
31,348 miles / 8,000 miles/year = 3.9 years worth of driving (assuming that my car would run on 100-110 octane aviation fuel, the manual does say to use "high octane" gas!!)

gee.. in one hour, Sen. Kerry used the same amount of fuel that i use driving my gas guzzling car for 4 years.

If you believe Kerry is concerned about the enviroment, then that means I must be an enviromentalist activist!!

And how much jet fuel has Bush used to travel around the country (esp. to go home on his numerous vacations)? And how much fuel to head to places like Camp David, via helicopter?

Do you really think he couldn't fly commercial? Do you really think he needed to bring 188 people with him to Boston for less than one day!!!

The senator jetted out of Washington at 9 a.m [Sunday morning]., intent on spending the day in Boston, working through a pile of paperwork, exercising along the banks of the Charles River, and relaxing with his daughter Vanessa, before staying the night at his Beacon Hill townhouse.

But even before his chartered Boeing 727 completed its 52-minute flight to Hanscom Field in Bedford, Kerry decided on an early return to the capital. He was to leave last night [Sunday evening]...

gee..it doesn' sound like he even needed five people with him......he was in Boston for about 12 hours, had time to ride his bicycle (and fall off of it), and watch some televison...

you really don't see the sheer hypocrisy in claiming one the one hand to completely committed to preserving our enviroment, and reducing fuel consumption, and on the other hand, chartering a huge jet to fly from Washington DC to spend less than one day in Boston??? He does this all the time!!. What do you think that Gulfstream V burns, water?

hs,
on the grand scale of picking which candidate to vote for, does this affect your decision?

Czar, tell me honestly. Don't you find it sickening that anyone would be that wasteful about fuel consumption? Chartering a huge commercial jet to fly from Washnigton to Boston (about 350 miles) roundtrip for less that one day? I'm being very serious about this. What kind of a person does this? It's so incredibly wasteful...

that reminds me, i only made the calculations for a one-way trip! that means he used up enough fuel to drive my car around for 8 years!!

I do find this very wasteful ofcorse but this is definetly not a big issue in a campaign unless you have absolutely nothing else to grind about

I do find it wasteful, but it is something that both candidates do. GWB, flies around all the time too. They almost have to in order to make campaign stops all over the country, they can't waste 4-5hours driving from place to place.

I don't see this as a big issue because Bush is f'ing the environment in so many other ways that a few planes flying around aren't going to make much of a difference.

This wasn't a campaign stop. it was a trip "home" for 12 hours!! This trip used up more than 3600 gallons of highly refined aviation fuel. enough fuel for me to drive my car for 8 years!!!!

this is inconsequential?

your a complete fraud if you claim your concerned about the enviroment, global warming, our dependance of foreign oil, and don't find Kerry's behavior condemnable.

fraud ( P ) Pronunciation Key (frôd)
n.
A deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain.
A piece of trickery; a trick.

The point is not that it is wrong; most people agree that his plane flight was wasteful. The real question is, should we really ignore all other issues surrounding this candidate because of one plane flight?

Yup, it's wastefull and bad.

It was bad when Gore wanted to intervene to make gas cheaper.

That said, compared to the current administration almost any other candidate that you could come up with probably cares more about the environment.

Again, yours was only 'technically correct' if that is your interpretation of 'informal'. I, on the other hand, take your 'informal' chart and write it off as meaning 'incorrect, but generally accepted because people, more often than not, use it incorrectly'. :)

I do find it wasteful
Yup, it's wastefull and bad
finally, we're making some progress....

it is complete and utter self-denial to think that Kerry is "pro-enviroment" when he acts in such a extravagantly wasteful way...

he is saying whatever he thinks will get the votes of the enviromentalists, but his actions prove he is not personally committed to "saving" our enviroment.

he's a politician, and he can shill for the votes of anyone he choses, and i don't begrudge him that, but don't ever claim he is personally "pro-enviroment" by his own standard, he isn't.

take a look at all those pictures of him riding in jets going on vacation, coming back, every one i've seen, the jet looks hugh, and EMPTY SEATS as far as the eye can see.

couldn't he fly commercial?, couldn't he fly a smaller jet? did he really need to go to Boston for 12 hours so he could fall off his $6,000 bicycle?

this guy and his wife use up enough resources to run a small city.....
Ralph Nader doesn't even own a car....any by the way, why does Kerry need 8 cars and three boats and 5 homes? Why does anyone?
