Proof that concealed carry permit holders live in a dream world

The biggest issue I have with CCW is that majority of the time I spend away from home is either driving to/from work or in the office. That means roughly 50 hours of the 60 I spend out of the home doesn't lend to carrying. Top that off, we are not allowed to carry in bars, sporting events or federal buildings so pretty much the grocery store or mall is the only place to carry.

Get a gun vault. Mount to car.

even in shall issue states you have to go through a background check. it's not like they just hand it to you on the spot. there are also many stories of people who had their licenses suspended because of things they've done wrong.

Jared Loughner passed a background check.

What bothers me the most about CCW is the "shall-issue" laws, which basically take discretion away from LEO's in handing out CCW's.

The ultimate nightmare for many people would be like some meth-laden crazy person going after them who also has a CCW.

I believe that with guns, personal discretion, looking into the guy's eyes, is really important, beyond the letter of the background check. Like, Loughner was turned away by one Walmart after the clerk saw that he was crazy.

Personal discretion is really important IMO. the law can't see if someone is angry or emotionally disturbed.
No. Here, fed/state/local before a permit is issued.

Nightmare...B.S. If I want to kill you and I know where you live,work/have a gun...you're dead.

So your options are a cave or self defense.

Grow a pair...your life is valuable. Protect it. Guns/crime aren't going away.

Loughner was crazy...why was he NOT in a database?

Have you ever been to a range?

ok? and? so then you agree that adding more laws for background checks isn't going to help anything? are you saying that the background check system failed if a normal person who bought a gun 20 years ago and suddenly goes insane today and goes on a rampage?

I'm also confused by this: The ultimate nightmare for many people would be like some meth-laden crazy person going after them who also has a CCW.

is that any worse than a meth-laden crazy person going after them without a CCW? You think it provides them some kind of protection for killing someone? I don't get it...

The funny thing is its actually not hard to get a gun without permits and licenses and such.

Illegally carrying a gun is an avenue to arrest the crazy person so he won't threaten you. Now, what if the police are unable to arrest him, after he successfully "asserts his rights"

How are the police going to know whether he's carrying, illegal or not?

I feel like you don't live in reality. Are you really unable to play through this whole scenario you've created in your head?

huh??????? having a concealed carry permit doesn't give you rights to kill people...

seriously, do you actually think thats what it does? depending on state laws and the circumstances, you're usually going to be arrested and tried in court. Killing someone for drugs is not a self-defense scenario and is certainly not "asserting your rights".
