Proof that concealed carry permit holders live in a dream world

I've seen this video before. It's one-sided, unrealistic and idiotic.

Could have also ended REALLY badly if a real CCW had been in one of those classes.

I just wanted to see what others thought of it. I have no agenda here.

bullshit

this video is old and has been posted many times. it's also clearly designed to give the bad guy the advantage (ccw person hindered by clothing, etc and bad guy knows exactly who has the gun and goes for that person 1st.)

Laughable test. The only thing it proves is that sometimes you're just fucked. Repeat the scenarios with an actor playing the shooter, who has no idea that anyone in the room is armed, and you'll get drastically different results.

I kinda have to agree with this, and I'm not a pro gun guy. If the producers really wanted to be fair to the idea, they should've run two tests: one like the original, and one where the shooter is also a college volunteer who has no idea who the CCW is. THEN let's compare those results.

But ABC knows their audience and they know that wouldn't make them happy, so they pander to them with a test weighted in favor of the shooter. Not really fair imo.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. Now, let's let this thread die.

Let it die.

Your posting history on this forum and the title of the thread (I don't care if YouTube also used the title) don't agree with this statement at all. You're not fooling anyone here.

Agreed. I don't read this forum much, but Jules's position on guns and their owners is quite clear. His protests that he's somehow being neutral now ring false and is a weenie response.

I don't think anyone would argue the fact that any untrained person isn't going to do well in a situation that generally requires training. Add to the fact a higher level of stress and this only compounds the failure. That being said, I do think that a lot of CCW holders do inflate the need/use for a CCW. And expect to encounter a situation where a firearm is needed. Keeping in mind that a lot of people say they would rather shoot someone robbing them, rather than just give them what they want and not realizing the ramifications of killing someone. Such as emotional stress, lawsuits, loss of work and other things.

I'm glad that George Zimmerman is going through legal hell for this reason.

I've never seen it.

The bad guy always has the advantage if of nothing else than the element of surprise.

I am a gun owner genius. I own several guns and have been a gun owner for more than 20 years.

Innocent or not, it sucks. I read a thread in the Ask/Tell portion of SomethingAwful where a guy talked about killing someone in self defense. He even used the attackers gun. One guy ran off and there were witnesses. It sounded awful, his head was a mess, and it cost him a shit ton. I just don't see myself getting into a life or death situation where I would be better off with a gun. But thats just my opinion.

I believe the Clackmas mall shooting could have been a lot worse than 2 dead if there wasn't a CCW that spooked the shooter.

"The break in gunfire allowed Meli to pull out his own gun, but he never took his eyes off the shooter.

"As I was going down to pull, I saw someone in the back of the Charlotte move, and I knew if I fired and missed, I could hit them," he said.

Meli took cover inside a nearby store. He never pulled the trigger. He stands by that decision.

"I'm not beating myself up cause I didn't shoot him," said Meli. "I know after he saw me, I think the last shot he fired was the one he used on himself."

 I'd like to see that as well.

Excellent post.

That's what I was wondering. The attacker shoots the teacher then immediately goes for the student with the gun. Good luck on those odds in real life with armed students.

Actually, it looked like the guy with the gun was always one of the people who didn't run as fast as possible, one of the last to leave. Caught up in thinking about whether to use his/her gun or not?

Having said that, the trainer/shooter did know exactly who to go for. Given that shootings actually last longer than 10 seconds and there's usually more than one room, gun might come in handy. But you're going to stick around with a drawn weapon and try to hunt the suspect down, while the cops start arriving in droves looking for a shooter?

Yeah, that proves nothing. The first words out of a lot of anti-gun people is that they too are gun owners, as if that means something. Your continued idiotic axe-grinding on the matter says more than your disingenuous proclamations.

Completely agree. Now he's just trying to pass it off as "I just posted a video." Total BS.

So in an ideal world, we have magazine limits + concealed carry of carefully vetted responsible citizens like that guy.

What's wrong with that?

The bad guys are the ones spraying gunfire. The responsible CCW is going to take a sparing number of shots, if any, to stop the attack.

There's nothing worse than a blatant liar. Just posting a video, and "Proof that concealed carry permit holders live in a dream world" are very contradictory, a fucking respost at that.

I question the motives of some gun owners who feel the need to arm themselves 24/7, yes, that is true. Especially guys like George Zimmerman and that drunk idiot who killed an unarmed teenage kid for playing loud music.

So far there have been some interesting points made about the video though. Let's try to keep to the topic at hand and not make this discussion about me.

That was the title of the youtube video. Seemed like it would get a lot of views if I posted it exactly as it was in the link.

And it turns out I was right. ()🙂:sneaky:
