I pretty much have had enough; I just want my money back now. Let me know how I can get it back. Coming up with receipts and shipping back the ram will be no problem. This is no longer a negotiation!

Thanks,
Fred

Here some proof to jog your memory, notice the dates ??..

From the beginning??..

Was sent out 5/16/06 (From Anandtech e-mail)

Steve,

I am having a problem with my OCZ EL PC4000VX sticks. i bought these back in December from tiger direct and should of tested them. however, now that i have all my part for my new build i got random reboots about every 10 minutes. so i started touble shooting when i replaced the ram with generic ram the rebooting stoped. everything has be stable for about 2 months. i have been to ocz website several times and still have no response.
My system,
Mobo DFI Nforce3 250gb (with latest bios, forgot which one but just flashed a month ago)
PSU antec 550
CPU AMD 3700+
2 X 512 OCZ EL PC 4000VX (Faulty)
Now using 2 X 512 mushkin 3200 (value line)

its the ram steve everything is stable now that i switched it out, and i have tried putting them back in and well same ol same ol.

by the way is ther any way of buying more of this stuff? and if not can i get them fixed? them came as a pair.

thanks fred

I don't know how busy you are but we are coming up on a month now. any word on a RMA # for my PC 4000 VX sticks. if they cant be fixed, i will be fine with Pc 4400 or PC 4800 sticks.

Fred

Received on (6/12/06)
Did you email the support address and ask them whats up with the RMA?

Was sent out (6/16/06)
Nope, will try that

Was sent out (7/14/06)
Ok so now that i am sending you another email what do you want me to do, everything was listed on the regular board.

I bought 2 sticks of 512 OCZ EL PC 4000VX from TigerDirect (stupid me for not trying them out first, thought since there the best they should work) i finally got all my pieces for my build by late January (bought sticks first since i knew they were discontinuing them). First I raised the voltage to 3.0 just to get them stable on a DFI Nforce3GB, i knew in adavance these guys love juice. i kept on getting rebooting issues and i was not OCing yet. I switched out the ram with generic ram and everything is fine! its the ram, it failed memtest quickly! At first ahh no problem as i heard of OCZ great warranty on there good ram and that OCZ had a good PR. But waiting half a year is not acceptable and a month before a tech from this forum says to email the website again!
will a tech help me!

Do you need anything else.

Hello,

Your RMA number is EU20951. The original OCZ product has to arrive at our warehouse within 15 days after the RMA number is issued. If you are returning a Dual Channel kit, please send both memory modules from the kit. Be sure to package returned memory in antistatic material, with no tape or other sticky material applied to the memory. If you are returning a PSU, please be sure to ship all the cables as well as the proof of purchase for the PSU.

Package the product you are returning well by using at least two inches of bubble wrap or foam. Do not directly attach or tape bubble wrap or foam to the product itself. Write your RMA number, on the package clearly using a black marker.

OCZ recommends shipping using a traceable courier, such as Federal Express or UPS. OCZ will not be responsible for lost RMA packages.

Do not lose your RMA number; we will not be able to track your RMA status without it. Please include a copy of your receipt if available. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.

Wow, i am truely impressed with you guys at OCZ. this is my fault, i should have never
truted you guys. well i got mt memory back from you guys back in Mid May. i thought hey
my memory was fixed you guys at OCZ (From what i Hear) are great about taking care of the
enthusiast sector. well i have been busy with work and college and finally came around
today to find out you guys did not test the ram. how do i know, the ram wont even allow
my system to boot up. Now what i want to know is what are you guys are going to do about
it? you can read down below the whole story. Basically i want my money back. i spent a
$125
per stick which comes out to $250 for the pair. i bought it at TigerDirect so they
should still have the reciept in there database. it just blows me away that after all the
trouble i went to get the first RMA (1yr) that you guys shipped me some other duds. Is
this the reputation you guys covet? Truely dissappointed in OCZ.

The part # is OCZ5001024ELDCGEVX-K

Still no reply to this day!

OCZ is all hype. They sugar coat inferior products with bells and whistles. Crucial and Kingston spend a lot of resources to make sure that their high quality DDR2 667 or 800 modules comform to JEDEC and work will many boards. Quality 1.8V DDR2 667 should be able to hit 400MHz at 2.0V and 4-4-4-12 timing. Quality 1.8V DDR 800 should be able to hit +450MHz at 2.0V and 4-4-4-12 timing. There is very little gain if you push the RAM beyond 450MHz. Higher RAM speed + more relaxed timing = no gain in performance.

Several years ago they were basically a fake manufacturer; AT even blacklisted them for a bit. However starting in late 2002/2003 they got their act in gear.

So you're RMA'd RAM won't boot up? Do you have any other ram you can use or borrow to boot the system up and perhaps set the DRAM voltage to at least 2.2v, browsing other forums this issue of 'not booting up' happens regularly and usually all thats required is a voltage bump- given the fact that you have isolated the problem to the RAM, nothing else.

They were a mom and pop shop in 2000 that started in Portage Indiana they took pictures from their contract fabricator, and represented them to be their own, and are still an Indiana Corporation....

But it now seems now that they are not answering phones, and dodging the issues yet again !!

Maybe it is time to kick them where it hurts again....I have not seen OCZ Ryder here for awhile...

Sorry about your experience, but I have had no problems with them.
I RMAed a 450W modstream, and after a week or two they had none there, so they sent me a 850W gamexstream for free, overnight. It took two painless emails to get things done.

I suggest that you contact eryder[at]ocztechnology[dot]com or one of the ocz forum mods for help.

Bumping old threads and trolling about your bad experience will not help you either.

Actually in these days of viral marketing, and word of mouth experiences... Blogs, and forums can be very effective if you understand how to effectively use them in a counter fashion.

Myself and a few other concerned citizens drove out Monarch, and also Effectively Killed an OCZ Marketing Campaign.

You have to understand networking, and how to get influential folks to buy in, and speak -up. You also have to have the balls to Knock the shills for a loop, and enough personal fortitude to not care what others may think at a given moment with the idea of the bigger picture in mind.

I understand that it can be effective, but bumping up 2-3 week old threads to add the equivalent of "OCZ SUCKS" is not a great way to conduct yourself.

I understand what all of you guys are saying.......Yes shit does happen and i felt for almost two years getting the run around "the server ate my email" bull shit had gotten out of hand. No company wants bad press, so i listed every email they sent me including the ones i sent them. this thread is only about 6 days old now and has had a lot of viewers. If you want any company to take you seriously (of course after some honest CS) then you expose them for what they are, period. think about it by the end of this month how many people here are going too read this? They have offered to give me a 2Gb kit instead of the 1Gb kit i had. While all of this sounds awesome i do not want to wait almost two years for this kind of service and we do not know if the sticks i am getting will work. i will definitely post when i break them in for a week. Sylvanas, yes i know those baby's love juice up to (within warranty) 3.2 volts. i have some hyperX3700 that work very nicely but the latency will, are not 2 (CAS). WE pay good money to have the best OR we make some kind of compromise based on what we can afford, we all do. AGAIN the whole system is stable without the EL PC 4000 VX sticks in them.

***********Bumping old threads and trolling about your bad experience will not help you either.

REALLY chaudx, with this post and the one i posted in there forum, I really have there attention NOW..........i have only posted this in two forums. this one and in OCZ'z, but i also threaten them to post in the 7 other forums i belong too as well.

***********Actually in these days of viral marketing, and word of mouth experiences... Blogs, and forums can be very effective if you understand how to effectively use them in a counter fashion.

I TOTALLY agree and thats why i did what i did...........i wanted service not bull shit...........if they screw this up too i am not only going to past this in the other 7 forums but also take them up to the BBB.

SO let's wait and see..........by the way i put the whole thing in MS word so its just a copy and paste thing now to post in any forum. here is the link to the OCZ forum where i posted it........as you read they did admit to there screw up but in private they also admitted the fact about sending my defective replacements.........but i will make that public if they screw this up too. you can bet on it. So here is the link.

http://www.ocztechnologyforum....showthread.php?t=31219

By the way has anyone seen RIDER......................LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way i am just a high school teacher thats getting a second degree and i gladly educate my kids on what companys to trust and don't trust in general (wink, wink) My proffessors also find my post amusing as well. (a little side note i am not an English teacher as you can tell spelling is not my forte........LOL)

G-Nite everyone i will post with either good news or bad news but i will post in two weeks on the situation and be happy to answer anyones questions that you guys may have.

Question for Mr. Fox

ThermalTake Armor Black w/25cm Fan
Intel Xeon X3220@3.4Ghz
ASUS P5K DELUXE/WIFI-AP
Mushkin 4GB(2 x 2GB) 4-3-3-10
2xBFG Tech 8800GTX
2x150GB 16MB Cache WD Raptor
2xSeagate 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB
2xPLEXTOR PX-810SA/SW-BL 18X Dual Layer
SILVERSTONE DA750 750W
XP/Pro - Vista Ultimate 64

I am looking at your chip the X3220 and have been eyeing it for a while at the egg.....at 300 bones how does she run? I am in the process of buying parts too complete here but i am going to shove her in a SFF either using a gigabyte for $135 or Asus for $120. so my question is how happy are you with the chip and do you recommed it? i can find very few reviews for it. ALSO i will be using some special edition DDR-2 Crucial stixs i thought about OCZ but (hahahahaha) will i will save that joke for later....

Again what can you tell me about the X3220?

i am gonna throw in my 2 cents here.

i brought 4gb of ocz reaper 1066 ram.

my rig is

asus striker extreme
qx6800
old ram was 4gb ocz 1066 reaper
new ram is corsair dominator 1142
2x xfx ultra 8800
zalman reserator 2
x-fi elite pro
galaxy enermax psu
old os vista 32
new os vista 64
wd raptor 150gb hd
and a partridge in a pear tree. :D

now i originally had the ocz ram running in vista 32 bit. obviously vista 32 does not support 4gb of ram.
i was constantly getting blue screens, mainly all related to video card errors, the dreaded nvllddkm.sys then during graphic intense applications it would bomb out with some irql_less_not_equal nonsense as well.

i attributed this to the fact that vista 32 was mapping my vid cards into my memory and maybe windows "excellent" memory handling system was just cocking stuff up.

so i went out, brought a copy of vista 64 and re-installed everything.

latest nvidia driver and all other driver as well.

everythign was fine. for about 40 mins. then bam errors again. i was losing it. since i was getting the nvllddkm error i assumed it was a graphics card problem. so after trying every 158.xx 160.xx 162.xx 163.xx driver for my graphics card, with all the hotfix stuff, cleaning, never ending uninstallation nonsense i was about ready to put my fist through my 30" dell monitor.

then i figured right run some memtests. so broke out memtest86 and the vista memory management. hmmm low and behold hundreds of memory errors. i went through checking each stick. then in pairs and quads and mixes. took me about a week in tota of memory configuraions and testing. then noticed one of the sticks of ram had pc2-9200 on it. ok i prolly shoulda noticed earlier but no one ever reads those little white labels :D. bear in mind the ram came sealed from a reputable vendor, where friends of mine work called yoyotech.

so now i am thinking hmm ram problems. i went out and brought a set of dominator, because when i phoned ocz they were giving me rough times of like 3 weeks to get my memory back if it was faulty.

since i have put the corsair in, not a single glitch. system running beautifully. i have been playing bioshock and warcraft all night, at one point 2 warcraft clients while i PL'd my noob lock :D. everythign running on full. not a hiccup.

i am going to slap orthos on to run now to stress test.

i am very dissapointed in the ocz ram. it is supposed to be top quality ram and i am afraid to say that it was not.

if i have any problems with the rma i will let you know and if i received the sticks back and have problems with them i will also let you all know.

hope this is helpful for people looking to buy high spec ram. i used to be an avid ocz supported but prior to the reaper i was using the old sli ram and i have to say i was not 100% happy with that. i had alot of crashes and blue screens back on xp and am wondering now if it was the ram all along.

Well, I'm the happy owner of 4gb (4x1Gb sticks) of OCZ Platinum PC6400.

I've never used OCZ before, but its been flawless for the 10 months or so I've had it.

Guess I got the few sticks that work. ;)

There is nothing wrong with the way he is conducting himself. He is sharing a very negative experience with the rest of us with great detail to help prevent others from suffering an equivalent experience.

Not that I would abandon Corsair RAM for OCZ, but it's good to read one clear example of how horrible their RMA team can be. His RMA number should have been emailed to him within a week after his initial request; I would even be ok if it were extended up to 2 weeks & required a 2nd request, but look at today's date (still no resolution). This is totally & completely unacceptable & I will think about this story if I ever consider buying their RAM.

I have purchased one of their power supplies & it still works fine.

Catalysts should not be flamed for sharing his story here, as many of us have done the same many, many times. This is a prime example of why the AT Forums exist.

********************UPDATE*******************

Sticks are in the mail as of this week so i should have something to write about by NEXT Friday. I just wanted everyone to know i have not abandon this thread. So we will see very soon if they get this right. on another note i have two power supplies from OCZ both a 600 and a 700 watt PSU. i don't remember were i read it but i do remember what the article said. It said that they don't make the PSU, FSP does and to some extent that brings relief to me. will i hope they don't screw up the PSU putting their OCZ label on it. hahahahaha. On a sadder note (very SAD) they have bought out one of the best in the buisness, PC power & cooling is no more (they will still use the name brand AND probably cut corners too) and i do expect the quality in those PSU to drop from their legendary standards (just start watching the reviews on the Egg). Of course in there defense anytime a company buys out another company it IS a big transition. like when HP bought Compaq, HP had a lot of work to do reviving the Image and quality of Compaq (and they did). of course AMD and ATI came to my mind first........I still love my Denmarks! However, Its PC power & Cooling that will make OCZ look good.........till they screw up PP&C Image. All in all i hope OCZ is just going through growing pains. Competition is good...........For the consumer! I also have bought a 2Gb kit of DDR-2 800 Ram from CRUCIAL (Lanfest stix) and a friend of mine is using them in his rig.....i learned my lesson to test all parts immediately! He is testing them for me cause i'm still in the process of building a new system........I'm not rich and can not afford to buy all the parts at once. as a reward for his help he can use them till December when i should have all the parts. he had a 1Gb kit in his system now he has my 2Gb powering his PC. Thanks Henry, BUT i want my sticks back in December!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahaha LMAO! Stay tuned for more drama as "AS the sticks won't POST!) it's a new SOAP OPERA! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep us informed. I just got an RMA number for OCZ ram as well. The problem is my system won't boot at the ram speed of 800mhz. However, I can live with what I have right now as I'm able to get the ram speed up to 750mhz.

I just don't want to send the ram back only to have them send back ram that isn't going to be any different.

Or worse yet, I don't want to wait 2 months for them to send something back.

Let us know if the new ram you get makes a diifference and then I'll think about sending mine back.

Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems with OCZ and hope that you can get them resolved soon.

As for me I had no problems with my RMA. I contacted them a few days after they received my memory kit and they were very informative about the status of my RMA. As a matter of fact I just picked up the replacement kit last night.

I'm not sure why you're having a hard time with your RMA. It could very well be a communication problem on both sides?

Do keep us informed and I hope you get your issues resolved soon.

Cheers!

new ram is corsair dominator 1142
2x xfx ultra 8800
zalman reserator 2
x-fi elite pro
galaxy enermax psu
old os vista 32
new os vista 64
wd raptor 150gb hd

Nice system, but running 4 sticks of RAM requires more northbridge voltage, and sometimes slightly more vdimm.

then noticed one of the sticks of ram had pc2-9200 on it. ok i prolly shoulda noticed earlier but no one ever reads those little white labels :D.

Since you don't seem to know it, PC2-9200 is faster than 1066 DDR2, which is PC2-8500.

so now i am thinking hmm ram problems. i went out and brought a set of dominator, because when i phoned ocz they were giving me rough times of like 3 weeks to get my memory back if it was faulty.

Were you getting Memtest errors, or blue screens, with 2x1 GB of the OCZ?

I have a pair of OCZ DDR400 1GB Platinum DIMMs that have worked flawlessly since day one. I wouldn't say that their product is poor quality. Then again, my brother-in-law had a pair of Corsair DDR2-800 1GB DIMMs and they crapped out on him after about a year.
