I have a Promise Ultra ATA/100 card connected to two hard disks, such that both are masters on the card's primary and secondary channels, respectively. The problem is that whenever I try to set up linux on this system, whenever the setup program boots up, it will list the drives in my system, up to the master hard drive on the card's primary IDE. Linux will always fail to list the hard drive on the card's secondary IDE channel. At that point, bootup freezes, and I must reboot the system.
Does anyone know how to circumvent this problem? I have read about methods to find out the I/O resources of the hard drives located on the cards, but they assume I can get to the graphical install screen. Since Linux cannot even load up to that point, unfortunately I cannot get the resources Linux would normally use for the drives on this card. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
