Promise RAID question

right now i have my OS (winxp) on C drive, while D and E are raided up via onboard Promise.

i was thinking that, if i wanted to format C, will i still be able to keep the data on D&E?

i know that harddrives are suppose to keep their data. but the RAID settings are located on the C drive, and once i format C and reinstall OS, what happens to the stuff on my D&E?

I have a software RAID0 Setup and whenever I format my C:, I just use the import foreign drive wizard and SHEBANG!!!, its right back. Not sure about hardware RAID0 though, I am sure it will be ok
