No offence meant above, I just sounded like you might not know what raid is. Plus it was an exellent oppertunity to use a "Princes Bride" quote!
All I can tell you is I have 1 SATA drive and runs fine w/o having to use any raid functions. Once again, please don't take offence, but you sure it's pluged in to the right SATA jack? The board has two sets of sata jacks. One set adjacent to the floppy plug, and one set right below the raid ide plug. If you are running one drive, it should be pluged in to the "bottom" one of the two that are beside the floppy. (sorry, I don't know a less confusing way to say that

) If you're still confused, look at the mobo pcb around the sata jacks. The one you want to use has "SATA 1" printed right ABOVE it. If it's pluged in there, the board shouldn't even detect a raid device.
I'll keep thinking, and take a look at my bios, but just make sure that this isn't the problem. Hope we can get this cleared up for ya
